Comment:
I put this together aiming to capture the essence of summer, my favorite of all seasons, as closely as possible. the songs had to really sound like summer, to actually evoke it and not just be about it lyrically. I don't usually pack so many personal favorites into the one mix, but here I made an exception. There's some all-time absolute favorites in here (1, 5, 15, 09, 17), some songs from way back in the day which stir up old memories (02, 14) and then the rest, each a small favorite in it's own right. From the smooth, laidback, warming grooves of Sun is Shining, Pacific Theme, Fisherman, and All Day Love Affair, to the backyard BBQ tunes of Bobby Bare and Dave Dobbyn, to the all-out psychedelic meltdowns courtesy of Manitoba and Of Montreal, the summery vibe rolls on. The tone shifts from 14 onwards into `summer nights', the sort of tunes I pictured playing at sundown whilst sipping a cocktail and lying in a hammock. a.k.a. bliss.
Feedback:
Beautiful mix. The Congos, Beulah, and De La Soul picks are absolute favorites of mine. Bring it on, I say!
I never would have thought of Beulah or RJD2 as summer songs, but seeing them here it all makes sense.
This looks wonderful! I recommend a book called "Equator" by Thurston Clarke. He tries to go around the world seeing as many places on the equator as possible. Guess how many countries the equator passes through - at least according to this book. Email me with your guess.
Would you like to do a trade? I have a mix for the prior season - Springtime!

Wonderful stuff. Love the 3 that kick it of especially.
Nice. I just made a mix recently like this called 'Dancing Days'. This is very well made. A nod to the Marley pick.
You appear to have succeeded. A very evocative mix. But for those of us on the other side of the world, this is either a cruel reminder or a hopeful token. Enjoy your "bliss".
Very nice.
Your title made my mind race back to an excellent world-fusion disc I bought many years ago by a group named Asiabeat. Their self-titled 1st release has a great tune entitled Born on the Equator and also has a very Summery feel to it. The link contains several mp3 samples.

This looks nice, particularly that Congos track.
Very nice choices. A chill mix if I ever heard on. But would love to hear that Delakota track. Not famiar with that.
I don't know a whole lot here, but I have no doubt that it's a really good mix.
warms the soul.
what a lovely day it would be
I love mixes that mixers pack in their favorites. Let us hoist a drink up in honor of an endless summer.
You've packed in some of my all time favourites on to this mix. It's delightful. 3,6,8, & 13 especially. And 2old2matter must hear that gorgeous Delakota track...
i am jealous. this is great. love the marley, cure, althea & donna, cee-lo and de la soul.
Perfect! (this teaser spell of spring has got a balmy mix percolating in my head, too)
Beautiful!!! (as a fellow sun-lover, and all *that* entails, this looks a keeper!) Goes well with drinks! Pour the French Connection another and make mine a double...
Extremely dreamy. Would love to hear this.
i'll drink to that.
ghostwriter is a great pick! also like the broken social scene, and the cure.
