Comment:

Guilty pleasures (all of which, except for #16, I purchased, for myself, on purpose, mostly sober.)
1. Whenever I'm feeling too good about myself, I harken back to 1977 when I had to dance to this in a Marching Band uniform. 2. When I'm entertaining someone and they don't like ANY of my music, they usually like this disc. 3. See #2 4. I have absolutely no excuse for owning this disc. 5. I really love his stuff before "Don't Worry etc." 6. "The Simpsons Sing the Blues" is actually a great disc, with B.B. King, Tower of Power and others guest starring. 7. "Hi, my name's Mark, and I'm a Sting fan." 8. I bought a two-disc set of Fogelberg just because I love this song 9. Worth the 99 cents I paid for it just to hear Joe Pesci sing in Italian 10 & 11. Sometimes you've just seen a movie too many times 12. I sold back the Kid Rock but I kept the Kracker 13. My favorite song when I was eleven 14. After hearing this 1134 times it still makes me laugh 15. Two Rednecks with a Morning Drivetime show.... 'nuff said 16. A dirty Christmas Carole (sp?) by the boss 17. I'm no Parrot Head but every once in awhile you just need a blender drink and some Buffett 18. Maybe the weirdest disc I own, obnoxious guttoral sounds mixed with Carnival Music and Kazoos.

Other than the Rick & Bubba and John Cafferty I think I could get through this without (much) cringing. I like LL Cool J and the Bus Boys enough to not even undersstand why they're on here. And the same can ALMOST be said for Three Dog Night and Sting. The one that makes me laugh is the Simpsons being here as a great blues album. I'm also of the "if you like it - it's good" thought, but I love seeing what makes other music nuts feel a little guilty for liking.

Why do you think you need an excuse for owning LL Cool J's "Mama", which is a killer track? "The Hustle" is a disco masterpiece. And I certainly dig Joe Pesci and the Crytsal/Guest bit. The rest, though, must've been found in a rental car, indeed (great title, btw). ;)

It's always cathartic to share one's guilty pleasures... and like many guilty pleasures discs, your secret vices are my worst nightmares. I honestly don't think I could have imagined a collection of music I'd want to hear less (absent the inclusion of some Journey). Oddly enough, in direct opposition to Slack, the one song here that carries some personal fondness for me is "On The Dark Side"; yes, the movie (Eddie & The Cruisers)was pretty lame, but John Cafferty played a gig on campus when I was a college freshman (this would be 1984) and it was actually a lot of fun. Or at least it was if you were too drunk to care.
Oh, and it's pretty hard to argue with "The Hustle," which, alongside "Popcorn," was a key 70s instrumental (mostly) anthem.

I love guilty pleasures mixes . . . . and an excellent title on this . . . . we all have them, and like Hemizen says, if you like it, it's good . . . please excuse me for not trading on this, however.

Bobby McFerrin did a lot of great stuff both before and after "Don't Worry Be Happy."

I'm curious. What were your thoughts when you learned the same author of 13 also wrote the Pusher? Was it "goddamn?"

Er, I have to say that... er... well, I like LL Cool J and don't see anything wrong with him. The rest... er... I liked Dan Fogelberg when I was 12... and I guess neither "The Hustle" or the Bus Boys are awful...

Yikes.

Love your bravery...though, I might have to drive this rental to a scenic overlook, play these tunes and throw a block on the accelerator.

That Pesci pick just might be boldest statement I have ever witnessed on this site. God, that takes stones!

Bravo!

Nice, I can buy quite a bit of this, especially the Fogelberg and Sting as guilty pleasures. I would love to hear that Billy Crystal/Chris Guest again.

Yeah, great title indeed. My favourite here also being The Hustle. Don't know any other Bobby M tracks. And the 2-4 are all decent tracks to many fans of that genre. Quite a few others I don't know, but of course would give a chance..
