Comment:
I have received and bought so much great music in the last 6 months that I fell out of the habit of exploring the world of free, legal downloads to discover new (to me) bands. Half the fun of this continuing project is finding great band names, song titles and bio's with lines like " Daughter of a Rocky Mountain dynamite salesman." and "It has come to my attention that the aforementioned statements alongside the fact that I have unmanageably long hair mean that I am indeed a hippie, occasionally spelled 'hippy'. Sweeeet!" This episode crosses numerous genres and was culled from over 200 explorations. Link to begin the adventure.Feedback:
wow. 200 explorations. i wish i could commit that amount of time exploring. well done.
nice, esp like the apperance of Raveonettes, Jim Noir and Ruby suns
Have to do a bit of web exploring myself. I hear good things about the Ruby Suns. I admire your diligence in searching for new sounds.
Peter hyped my choices with the exception of Sera Cahoone track.
I agree with Tom, I thank you for the filtering, Mark.
What I wanted I got - a mix to download with some interesting new music. Thanks.
mobius band rocks pretty hard. especially that valentines day ep.
some cool stuff here, mark, loving that ruby suns album, & i've been contemplating on whether or not i wanna check out that sera cahoone album - what's yer verdict?
anthony - have only heard this tune but based on that, I am planning on exploring deeper.
How have you not heard Modey Lemon through me by now?!?
Opening with the Modey Lemon?! NICE. They've got a new album in May, I think, that I'm totally stoked about. Awesome mix, btw... 13 to 17 is saaweeet.
It's like listening the your brother in law's Paste samplers to find fifteen fun songs, which I think I did just before the hard drive mishap two months ago. Looking forward to downloading this tonight. Thanks.
200 down to 22, you must have found the best for this.
Can't beat the price, nor the results.
The Raveonettes, Jim Noir, and Sera Cahoone are highlights for me. Looking forward to hearing that Daniel Johnston cover as well.
That Jim Noir track was produced by George martin, he's come a long way in the last couple of years - excited to hear his new album. Looking forward to hearing this mix as well - that Mixxer talks a lot of sense..
Looks great, I only know the Midlake and Ravonettes here but I will be catching up soon!!
Sweet! Thanks so much for this labor of Free Love!
Excellent - I love the Modey Lemon kicking everything off. There's so much great stuff out there if you do a little exploring - this shows me that I should probably do some more of my own.
I love the way the net is giving otherwise anonymous artists a worldwide voice. Viva la revolucion!Nice mix.
