Comment:
This is a two disc comp of tunes from ANTI- Records releases. I've been meaning to do this for awhile but was inspired to finally complete it by Plushpig's Island Records Pink Label Compilation "Sunday Tea With Mr. Blackwell".ANTI- was established in 1999 as an off-shoot of Epitaph to promote artists like Tom Waits and Merle Haggard who didn't fit their normal Punk output. The label is Artist-Friendly and fairly hands-off and has attracted both new artists and established musicians leaving the confines of major labels. While I own several of these discs, all of these tracks were downloaded for free from the ANTI- website. Link because they wantcha 2:

Feedback:
They have a quite a variety of styles in the lineup. Nice compilation.
Looks like a visit to their website is in order... The Nick Cave, Waits, Elliott Smith, Jolie Holland, and Haggard are some of my favorites here.
very interesting artist lineup. you can see some connections from waits to others. i wonder if this cross fertilization is common on anti.
Very interesting, indeed.
50-50 here between stuff I know and am unfamiliar with. For instance, the first 8 on Side One are unknown to me, then the DeVotchKa - Solomon run is truly great. Thanks for the links, lots of new 'uns for my listening pleasure..
Nice! I hadn't realised how many of these artists released their stuff on this label, so this is a great overview. I very much like the Mescaleros/Jolie Holland combination. I'll be joining Funky Ratchet on their site...
Nice... a Siobhan sighting! Anyway, a fantastic anthology you've put together, Mark. I too never realized what a roster Anti has.
Some cool stuff here, for sure. Love the Nick Cave, Waits, Strummer, Bettye, Tricky and Mavis. I can guarantee that if SQ sees this, she'll commend you for including Antibalas (alas, I'm not as big of a fan, but they definitely aren't represented much around here, so kudos to you).
A favorite label of mine as well with Neko and Nick Cave leading the roster in my estimation. Great idea.
looks like a great round-up from a label i've picked up quite a few records from in the past few years - the tom waits, solomon burke, elliott smith, blackalicious, ramblin' jack elliott, & especially that neko case are my favorites...
I'm a fan of the label Mark so I of course love a lot of this. The Xavier Rudd, Magnus, Tim Fite are three of the lesser represented artist that I'm especially glad to see here. Great intro mate.
Thanks for the tunes, great stuff. I'm also going to be looking into their lesser known roster.
well great , love to hear this
Thanks for the links, I look forward to a good listen!
Too bad the link expired, but I'll check out the website. Surprising because Merle is very anti-piracy. Love the Side 1 most of all.
