"Video games are bad for you? That's what they said about rock and roll." - SHIGERU MIYAMOTO

Yes, a mix comprised of tracks found in computer games. No, this isn't a collection of MIDI files or of "music" comprised almost entirely of electronic beeps. Instead, I have selected a few different games which I have enjoyed playing and believed had a fantastic soundtrack and taken a few choice selections from them.

There's some lovely work on offer here, from the brooding almost spy movie like qualities of Harry Gregson-Williams' Metal Gear Solid efforts to the fantastic orchestral and piano renditions of Nobuo Uematsu's work in the Final Fantasy series. There's even representation of Frank Kelpacki's raw Command and Conquer soundtrack which garnered fans of its own right outside the game.

Computer games are not just about inane button smashing and goggle eyed youths, they are often creations of magnificent scope and depth; filled with expert craftsmanship, fantastic storytelling and their fair share of ups and downs. I think these tracks represent some of those qualities.

Don't know about the whole computer game thing YoMma (I'm a famous technophobe around these parts, I'm sh*t hot at Super Mario though) but this certainly made a nice soundtrack to my rampage around my maison avec vacuum cleaner and feather duster this evening! Boy that sounds extremely camp, ill quit while i'm ahead...

This is a superb creation. "Well you would say that. He is your son..." etc, etc. However, put aside your inherent distrust and embrace this mix. Yes, embrace it, let it caress your senses and breathe deep its beauty. If you're a player of video games, it's filled with nostalgia nad warm familiarity -- some of the finest compositions from some of the finest games ever made. If you know nought of this silly "games" nonsense, fear not, Listen and marvel. Anything, be it game, film or just because, that inspired such joys is eminently worthy of your time.Others have attempted this type of mix before -- I salute them -- but YoMma has ignited the beacon, that all may see the light and hear the power.I am not exaggerating, nor lost in hyperbole -- no, no and thrice no. This is almost definitive. YoMma has arrived, and nothing and no-one can stop him now...

Got 'round to hearing this and it's really great! Certainly the best of this sort of mix I've heard. I also linked my brother to it (who is a big fan of game music) and when I asked him if he liked it on MSN, his response was:

"HELL YEAH!!!"

This mix is absolutely brilliant and is indeed a mix of fantastic music. The blend from Pegasus Bridge to FFVII Main Theme is perfect. I actually repeated that moment over and over. And what better to end it with than Aeris' Theme.
You've also opened my eyes to game composers that don't have a japanese name, although I did already like some Metal Gear Solid music.
You've done a great job, so you desrve this: *applause*
