What were these fookers thinking? It is a given that the question is posed to the cyber-predators but what about the MSNBC and Perverted-Justice?
I saw that multiple instalments were necessary but the series was quickly in danger of becoming a parody of itself. Homemade baked cookies and a camouflaged take-down cop that resembled Sigmund the Sea Monster? WTF? The content of exposing these creeps should be enough. Stop insulting the viewing public's intelligence level/attention span.
And so, here is this...
DJ Karen Adams Presents To Catch a Predator: The Mixtape - Bloopers & Blunders
See all the hilarious offscreen antics we captured during the filming!
_What was that man really wearing under that towel?_Where did Frag stash that first batch of cookies that were served up just before the cameras rolled?_How did Boots recover when she suddenly lost her voice? _What did Chris's makeup artist use to help keep him cool under all that pressure? _Watch how two predators arrive within a mere seconds of one another!_See the emotional swearing-in ceremony when Perverted-Justice volunteers become Dateline Deputies for the Day!

The drama, the trauma, the spoofs and the spills. Stay tuned. You won't want to miss it!

Not at all familiar with the show (apparently luckily) but another fascinating mix on a disturbing topic. (Completely forgot about that Zep tune) Kudos.

Respect as I have for you as a mixer, I really must condemn your usage of a convicted paedophile in your mix. I'm sorry if this sounds churlish but him and his music should be kept off this site however ironic it's usage. Or put it this way a mix is too frivolous a place to deal with such emmotive issues such as child abuse.

Dom1, I can completely agree with the point of your post, that Michael Jackson is a very strange individual, one I wouldn't let my kids within a mile of. However, one word in your post is simply wrong. No matter your personal feelings for the man(disgust in my case) - he was never convicted of anything. Chalk that up as a shortcoming of our justice system, whatever. The fact is that a prosecutor has never been able to prove that the alleged events ever happened.

Looking forward to giving this a spin, Karen. Your mixes are always an intriguing read and listen. Armando, I believe Dom's referring to Gary Glitter. Interesting point, but where are you going to draw the line on what's appropriate? It might seem pretty hip to use a Charles Manson track, but include a recently convicted pedophile and that's too much for AOTM? I'm gonna stick with freedom of speech here...

To Armando: I am referring to GG not MJ. Well, I can't listen or derive any pleasure from listening to an artist who at the same time Rock and Roll Prts 1 or 2 was in the charts was systematically abusing children. I don't suppose the mothers or fathers of the children Glitter abused or the children themselves could divorce the music from the man. I'm not interested in Charlie Manson or quite understand why anyone should wish to listen to a sub standard musician...I suppose those who find Manson hip will undoubtedly find paedophilia hip!

"Another fascinating mix on a disturbing topic." Yup, that about sums it up for me.

To respond or not to respond. Hmmmm. Okay. First up, this mix is strictly a commentary on MSNBC, Perverted-Justice and their approach on the serious topic. It is not to condone paedophilia. Secondly, I disagree that the mixtape is too frivolous of a medium to deal with serious issues. I have made cassettes and CDs on the subjects of and for friends dealing with love, surviving cancer and HIV, spousal abuse, alcoholism, death of a loved one, police brutality, adoption and the like. Snagging a theme and running with seems to be something I do. Some results were better than others and I certainly did struggle with posting this one. And finally, I have a hard time with folks who try to insult the intelligence of others. If you caught the last few instalments of the series you might have a better understanding.
Dom1, I am puzzled. You say, "I'm not interested in Charlie Manson or quite understand why anyone should wish to listen to a sub standard musician..." however, a cursory search yields about one 1/2 dozen mixes featuring Charles Manson that you give thumbs up. One very interesting mix plus contradicting comment appears here(!) Oh well. Thanks for admitting to enjoying my mixing skills. I have enjoyed your mixes for quite awhile now and would be open to a collaboration; barring Manson and Glitter tunes, of course.

if posting somone's music on AotM implies that we endorse their personal behavior, I think we're all in a lot of trouble. great mix, Karen.

I think you showed great restraint in not using Gary Glitter's Doin' Alright With The Boys.

In case the link provided by DJ Karen fails to work I left this comment on Greaseball's mix: 'There Is A Beast In Man That Needs Exercised not Exorcised.'
'The Devil stirs beside me, constantly....checked through this and other offerings in your blood bank - damnably fine, makes my junior horns fizzle with jealous avarice - think I'll sacrifice a virgin'...there you go I shot myself in the foot...but Greaseball's mix was about Satanist Anton La Vey so Manson's appearance was to my mind totally justified as is your inclusion of GG on this mix...I just don't happen to like seeing his name..If anyone cares to check through my mixes you will find constant contradictions to what I wrote - I have done many mixes on the subject of Lolita as well as mixes on the Holocaust etc. As I said before I have upmost respect for your mixing skills & have always enjoyed your mixes - this one included...I know that you are not endorsing child abuse with this mix...I am also not trying to insult the intelligence of others but as there was a mixer not long ago who was submitting pictures of naked teenagers & another mixer who was peddling neo nazi bands I do question some people's intelligence on this site...my problem with this is I can't access the mix to listen to, so I can only judge it as a list of songs...to be truthful if you'd used Doin' Alright With The Boys or Do you wanna touch, I think it would have worked better as a piece of satire. I think I would have liked to see more explanatory notes - for instance how man Americans know who Daz Sampson is and just why he is on the mix... My one other issue is that your link goes directly to PJC and not to it's warning page...AOTM does not have an age restriction...you write: Some results were better than others and I certainly did struggle with posting this one...so presumably you knew this might be viewed by folk who have suffered child abuse. Enough said.

I'm sure Dom is big enough to fight his own corner but I feel I should weigh in here even though I didn't want to. I really dont doubt your motives Karen and although most of your mixes arent to my taste they are well put together and they add character to this community but this one is ill-advised at best. This was always going to provoke emotive responses and I feel the humour (that you probably intended in good faith) is lost. Good songs should be the premise for any mix and sensationalism should stay on the aforementioned show and the tabloid press. Freedom of speech is one thing but victims of these crimes deserve peace not frivolity. Keep mixing DJK but I'm asking you, please take more care with subject matter.

Interestingly enough, track #2 on this mix was originally to be Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Whats Your Name (Little Girl)".

Putting aside any reference to subject matter; avoiding any mention or use of irony; leaving alone satire and -- heaven forefend - dark, yet incisive humour. This mix is very disappointing to me. It contains Daz Sampson's appalling, despicable, vacuous, grotesque and without any merit whatsoever, Teenage Life. This record represents the nadir of popular music. I am spiritually diminished by its existence. Oh Karen, that it should come to this.

Spiritually diminished by the existence of a pop tune?!!? Hmmmm, I guess it is true to never underestimate the power of song.

Clever, Karen. Turning the proverbial tables there. However, it's not merely the "song" -- it's the whole bubble of crassness and vapidity surrounding it. That this was considered a viable entry for any form of competition is beyond belief. There may well have been worse "songs" perpetrated upon an optimistic world, but none so shallow, so bereft of talent and so perversely calculated. This was a "huge" hit here in the UK -- shame on us all. Other than that, I'm fine with it. As you say, it's only a song. All the best to you.

Interesting mix. Even more interesting commentary. Having seen this show, I think your mix brilliantly depicts the despicable manner in which the US viewer seeks it's entertainment.

Nomates: Daz Sampson, wearing out his welcome, applied his crass hit-formula to this project as he's done as Rikki & Daz, and Bus Stop. There should be a strict non-professional songwriter rule or something for Making Your Mind Up and Eurovision.

Very true. Thanks.

Thanks for weighing in.

Restraint? I was unaware of that title -- and his entire discography for that matter -- until recent research. I was certainly in favour of the NFL dropping "Part 2" which meant the end to his league-funded globetrotting via healthy royalty cheques.
