Comment:
Hey,This is the tenative track listing from my upcoming (August 5th) wedding. It's in Japan and there are several set-in-stone sections the wedding planner gave us. I've tried to give each a little theme or style of music.
Tracks 1 to 7 are to play while the guests enter the reception area. The theme here is rock love songs, sweet and innocent
Track 8 is supposed to be when my wife and I enter but I'm a little stuck on it. I originally thought "Staralfur" by Sigur Ros, but I think it's a little too melodramatic and doesn't flow with the overall progression. I'm thinking now that a jazzy, late work from an established rock artist might be in order. Any Suggestions?
9 is a personal favorite of my wife and will lay behind the cake cutting
10 is to play behind the toast from my friend Matt.
11 to 17 are all pretty standard jazz tracks to serve as BGM while we eat.
18 to 23 are BGM for our "walk around the tables." I wanted something fun and a link out of the jazz.
24 and 25 are for the letter to the parents- a pretty standard Japanese wedding tradition. I wanted something soft and light and I thought "God Only Knows" fit well thematically.
26 was a huge hit last year here in Japan and I think has become a wedding standard. It's the soundtrack to my wife and I leaving. She loves it, so It's a littl;e gift to her.
Well, that's my first draft. Any suggestions? from your own weddings or ones you've attended would be great. And no, "We've Only Just Begun" is not even an option.
Geoff
