Comment:

Yet another "for the hell of it mix" (patent pending) designed for Matt Hinrichs. Sadly track two holds significance to both of us these last few months. Once again, it includes music discovered on the net, a few recent trade acquisitions and stuff shoplifted from behind the backs of the bored employees at Sam Goody. And yes, it's pretty damn poppy and includes lots of multi-tracked vocals -- something I noticed only after I finished the mix ( I guess I subconsciously like that sort of thing).
So have you kids heard Lily Allen? She's not that well known in the States, but she's making a big splash in the UK with her catchy ska-tinged songs and sweet voice. Her single "Smile" has been stuck in my head for weeks, but I've made no attempt to have it removed.

That patent is NOT pending, my friend... it's been under my continuous use for years. ;-) Great mix. I now can say that, in addition to the Common, Stereolab, and Minus 5 tracks, I love the Merry-Go-Round track. That Brady Bunch moment puts a little love in my heart (ahhh, Maureen McCormick, I was just discussing my lifelong crush on her this very morning), and I like both Grandaddy and Shirley Collins, but don't know those particular songs. At any rate, I'm sure this is a fine mix based upon what I know and your track record...

Btw, I've heard *of* Lily Allen (I think I've even read an article about her... The New Yorker, maybe?) but haven't heard her. I'm moderately curious, though.

Lily Allen is indeed making a big splash here in the UK. I predict 'Smile' will be Top Of Our Pops this time next week. 'Alfie' is as good a pop song as I've heard this year. As for the rest.. I know about a quarter, which god damnit isn't enough. By the way Tk2 holds some significance to me also. God bless you 'Martha' my dear...

Y'know, I don't think I've commented on one of your mixes in ages, Moe. Don't know why, really, but this looks poptastic and super-cool in all the right ways. I've heard enough Lily Allen to know that I dig it and I also dig that Richard X remix of that Annie track. Awesome.

A possible answer to Shawn's quandary is that you have not posted one in a long time. Great lookin' pop. Post some moe, and don't be sloe.

Is Andy covering the Partridge Family hit? I'm spazzing at the thought. (As opposed to my usual spazzing for no known reason.) The Minus Five, Helen Shapiro, and The Merry-Go-Round are all wonderful, but it's Chris & Maureen that really make this mix special.

Another wild thing out of SD. A mix containing the original version of "New York Groove" can't be all bad, and, indeed, there's quite a few, er, Pearls here (is that the female singing duo from the 70s?). It's the Moe Better Blues, boy . . .

I don't know much here, Ion, but I like what I do know. I'm sorry sorry for your recent loss. I am a cat lover too, and they become part of the family.

Thumbs up Moe. Really dig the Field Music, Annie (that just went on my recent mix), ONJ (my first celebrity crush), and I just saw a Lily Allen video a few days ago and added her to my "must buy" list.

Yep, that original of "New York Groove" is the definitive....(though Ace does go a ways toward making it his own.)Great Field Music choice, too...sorry track 2 has any meaning beyond being a song....sad. Cats is good creatures. Mo' Moe is the message!

...a man with a terrific sense of humor and great taste in music, that's for sure. Welcome back Moe. I reckon I've seen three generations of roaches grow up, go off to college, get married, eat a dollop of mayonaisse left on the kitchen counter, start families of their own, and finally get peeled off the bottom of my boot since you last posted a mix. This looks great - I'm on a major Broadcast kick at the moment. Sorry about your cat.

Somehow this one managed to pass me by and I have no idea how - apologies for that, as this is truly a great mix. Love the Camera Obscura, Minus 5 and Grandaddy. And I think Orchid gave a pretty good answer to the question! :)

As usual, you astound me with your brilliant ability to pick songs that are eclectic yet have a similar clap-happy bounce!

My favorites are Lucky Soul, Camera Obscura, Eiichi Otaki, Broadcast, Alzo & Udine and Andy Williams' rocking Partridge Family cover.
