Comment:
The Girlie Pop series returns after a long absence with a tribute to Japanese pop music. I'll admit this isn't a definitive collection, but I feel it represents some of the better artists to come out of Japan in the last four decades -- although the emphasis is on more current stuff. "Arigatos" go out to Fwak, Jon Neukam and Musicgnome for their contributions. How about a no-brainer quiz to win a copy? Two of the artists above had their own TV shows and another performed in a Quentin Tarantino flick. Be the first to name them and a copy will be sent your way via Japan Airlines.
Feedback:
Let me be the first in line. Me! Me! Me! I want one!!!! (series, that is)Really, all kidding aside...send me this, now. My, where are my manners? If you would, could you send me this IMMEDIATELY!!!!Please pardon my rudeness, but this mix has me all crazy-like. In trying to put together your tribute, one of the ideas I had was to put together something along the lines of a Cantopop Mix, but I didn't have enough worthy material. Luckily for me, as this mix is astoundingly awesome...which I'd like to hear...now...please....now.... please?
...now? ...please?
Well there's Puffy
Amiyumi, and the other is known in Japan as µΦשﻼﯔےۇỗҗ.

puffy amiyumi & tomoyo harada (straight news) both had their own TV shows at some point or other in Japan. Of course the 5.6.7.8s appeared in Kill Bill. I want to win a copy of this mix so badly, because, quite frankly it looks amazing..
Congrats Sammy! Actually Tomoyo Harada wasn't one of the answers I was looking for, but I'll certainly accept it. The more obvious answer would be Pink Lady, who appeared in the short-lived NBC variety show "Pink Lady and Jeff" with comedian Jeff Altman. Only five episodes aired back in 1980, but
it's available on a DVD boxed set. Go figure.

this looks fµΦשﻼﯔےۇỗҗ'n fantastic. I only know five of these, but after getting a taste of Halcali from the mix of the week, I now need more and I need more now. what are my trade options?
I just bet those pinky chicks are as girlie pop as girlie pop can get.
Moe, your girlie pop horizons just keep expanding on & on - may the rising sun never set on girlie pop!

This looks like so much fun! You're using several groups I know, but only two songs I have. Please, Mr. Moeto, may I have a copy?
Do you remember Pink Lady?
Yes! . . . No
This is killer fantastic wonderful Moe. I would love to trade for this, if there's anything of mine you don't have yet but still want.

Oh yes, this excellent collection has a lot of favorite artistes: P5, Puffy, Shonen, Kahimi, Takako - geez, it even has the Peanuts (no Mihari Koshi, though, which is a major setback in my book ;)). As the lovely Ms. D. has already used the Mr. Moeto joke (damn!), I can only bellow (heartily if not belligerently): "Hai!" And conclude by saying (or rather breathing as seems to be the custom with quite a few of the songstresses listed above): "Sayonara." PS: E' will follow shortly . . .
Er, it's MiharU Koshi, of course . . . Sorry bout dat.
Looks cool
Moe knows girls! Every kinda' girl...singin' girls, laughin' girls, giggly-wiggly yappin' girls....and he loves 'em all. and we are richer for it. Go Moe!!!!
Another fine installment you've gotten us into. :-)
WOW! I must own this, whenever you find the time...OUTSTANDING.
Amazingly, I know more here than on the average Curtis mix (if there is such a thing).Very fun! Lubbly jubbly!
This looks better than Banana Pocky. The Peanuts rule my world. If anything in my list interests you, let's trade...!
lovely
Only 5 outta 26 of these are on my radar but I'd love to hear more of this stuff. Nice artwork as usual Moe.
Ooh sugoi! This looks very nice, Moe-san! Me too, I would like to hear this, as I have a (marital) connection to Japan.
JPop ain't nothin' without the girlies IMHO. Some big faves o' mine appear here.
I'm all about Halcali these days. (unless they performed in a Tarantino flick). This looks endlessly facinating.
Fantastic! Love Takako Minekawa and Kahimi Karie - there's a lot on here I'm not familiar with, but would love to be :) I was just listening to "international girls" which is still as wonderful as ever, so it makes me very happy to see another girlie mix on here!
PS: Just noticed the Pizzicato Five cut. One of my favourite tracks, possibly ever.
Man, this compilation just gets better and zannier! Love the stuff I've heard. I may have to trade for this in the future...
Man, I love your girlie pop series. I wish I owned them all! This looks so damn fun, and big thumbs up on the cover art.
lovely ones
hey pink lady and puffy amiyumi?!..cool collection moe... i gotta send you some venerable japanese pop gals ..like sandii and sunsetz..miharu koshi.Susan-techno popper..and hosono acolytes..and a bunch of YEn-sters. good job..the japanese pop field since late 70's is maasive.as your list attests to.
I just received this today, and am listening to it on serious sleep deprivation, and oh boy, it's better 'n green tea at making me awake & happy!
Haha, like you need a comment from me.....
