Comment:
Another 2 Disc installment in my Favorite Voices series, the lovely Emmylou Harris. I came to Ms. Harris late, about 6 years ago I found Wrecking Ball in a used bin and fell in love with it. Red Dirt Girl followed and then I started after the back-catalog.Her distinctive voice is beautiful on its own but may be even more amazing when singing harmonies. The second disc here is all duets, trios and backing harmonies on other peoples records. (Thanks to Rob Conroy for the concept for the second disc and for pointing me towards the Dylan, Elvis C and Adams discs.)
Last tracks cut: Two More Bottles of Wine, Wayfaring Stranger, , Driving Wheel, Heartbreak Hill, Wheels of Love, Going to Harlan, I Will Dream, Strong Hand, That's All It Took, Heart of Fire, Cash on the Barrellhead, Evangeline, Oh, Sister, amd I Dug Up a Diamond. Title is from a Janis Ian song.
Feedback:
Excellent-I love Wrecking Ball and is there a better female than her to sing a duet with?
I'm not entirely familiar with her work, but this looks great.
An exceptional voice, some exceptional songs = an exceptional mix.
Nice. I should also add that Hank Williams's "Jambalaya" has been covered 100's of times, but Emmylou's is the best.
Great compilation; I love Emmylou Harris. Is "Mister Sandman" a cover of the '50s classics by the Chordettes? I'd love to hear that one. Also, if you don't know it already, check out the CD "Western Wall" by Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou.
THis looks really good. A really comprehensive survey. Are you sure you meant "boots"?
I'm with you about Emmylou. Just a gorgeous voice and a seemingly lovely human being, to boot. Nice job, Mr. P.
i was hoping you'd use the ryan adams track she guested on - also a good idea to put her solo stuff on disc one & her collabs on disc two since she's very prolific with them. great job
Looks wonderful from here. Nice job, sir.
Click here so Mister Sandman can bring you a dream.

Still learning about Emmylou. This helps direct me to some tracks I don't know. Love "Red Dirt Girl" and the Ryan Adams duet of course. One of my faves is "I Don't Have To Crawl." It might have been to dreary for this mix though! LOL! Thanks for schoolin' me with this.
What a tremendous coincidence. I was listening to Oh My Sweet Caroline only last night thinking what a beautiful voice Emmylou has and that just having her on his disc raises Ryan Adams's stock. Nice job.
wonderful stuff
This girl certainly does have a fantastic voice. I have a few tracks by her, but not nearly enough. That is something I must rectify soon. I love her version of Tk3..
Really inspired, well executed tribute! She seems to make anybody that sings with her even better.
Awesome! Love it. Would have liked to see Evangeline make the cut and maybe something off the O Brother soundtrack.
