Comment:

Truly my first attempt at a tribute of this magnitude. I only hope I did the fifth Beatle justice. UPDATE: Thanks to hemizen for unearthing this rare performance recording...and at very short notice.
Preston is the only non-Beatle to receive a credit on a Beatles single.
He was the first artist to enter the UK Singles Chart at number one with his debut playing keys on The Beatles' "Get Back".
Preston co-wrote the song "You Are So Beautiful" with Bruce Fisher, made famous by Joe Cocker.
Preston provides keyboarding on several Beatles albums, including Let It Be, The White Album and Abbey Road.
He appeared as Sgt. Pepper in the film version of the Beatles album and had a cameo appearance in the film "Blues Brothers 2000".
Along with Janis Ian, he was a musical guest on the first episode of Saturday Night Live. Years prior to having appeared on "SNL", Preston was keyboardist for the weekly Bobby Sherman televised concert and music show broadcast as "Shindig" which was very popular with viewers and musicians alike, especially from the Los Angeles area.
Preston was the first to be signed to Apple Records.
Preston also accompanied the Beatles during their famous rooftop gig in London, the Beatles' last public performance.

Another fun listen DJK. Had no idea he helped pen "You are So Beautiful" and dug the interviews (and the cover art!! Doesn't it look like his 'Fro is growing entirely out of his mustache?)

Nice, educational mix. I enjoyed listening to it. Does the last track mean that Billy Preston was in favor of Intelligent Design? :-)

Full of what I know and appreciate well, plus some real gems new to me. And an 8-track as source material -- so fitting for the period!
