Comment:
In the middle of yet another romantic dissolution when every song I heard seemed to be fittingly sad, I began to put together the obligatory end-of-relationship mix. But then I decided not to tread those same old streets, and indeed, to lift my chin up and see the good in things. After all, we had ended things amicably and it was what I wanted -- no need to wallow in the mire or be angry. Now, it's not that that these are all positive, far from it. But the idea was for the tempos to be upbeat and for the songs to be catchy. As for the Morrissey reference in the subtitle, that's no dig against the man or his fans -- I've included "Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me" on a previous break-up mix. But this is not that kind of break-up mix.If you've never heard of The Sun, Shout Out Louds, Shivaree or Elefant, check 'em out. I credit KCRW and Steve Jones on Indie 103.1 here in L.A. for turning me on to those bands during the many weeks in 2005 while my ear was tuned for upbeat breakup songs.

Feedback:
Buddy Holly is still the king of the upbeat breakup song, but these will do in a pinch. You're makin' me feel sorry for ol' Ken here *sniff* -- a feat of miraculous proportions!
that's such a funny cover, i love it. as for the songs, that's my favorite velvet underground song, & i'm really digging the violent femmes, prince, rolling stones & elvis costello picks. there's always next time though, so good idea to put some upbeat material on here - things will work out in the long run.
a great idea! for me it's usually tom waits and r.e.m...I end up more depressed than I was when we bronke up
Thank God somebody finally had the guts to marry the genius of Huey Lewis to the near-mythic offerings of the Bay City rollers. How could anybody mourn the death of a relationship when helped along by these alchemists of musical feelgoodery. A new word, invented here, for you.
Barbie's still got a longing look in her eye, whereas Ken is clearly eyeing up some other plastic totty in the distance! Your mix looks as fab as the cover.
