1959
Comment:
This was the year in which we had the day the music died. (Feb 3rd) Barbie made her debut on the world stage and soon met Ken who we all know was never good enough for her.Luna 2 became the first man made object to touch the surface of the moon, when we say touch we mean crashed slap bang into.
Midwives around the world cut the strings and unleashed : .

Feedback:
Lots of great, varied picks here. Looks like it's as fun to listen to as it was to compile!
Lots to like here mes amis. Likin' the 3 to 5 stretch especially.
This really does look like it was so much fun to put together! Loads of fantastic picks and good to see lots of different genres there - nice Jacques Brel inclusion. Loooove Venus as well.
I am most appreciative. Makes me glad to have made it one more year! A friend of mine recently gave me a disc that had Sleepwalk by Santo and Johnny... I wonder if I can fit it onto this without screwing it up... in fact, no, I'm not going to even try, the mix is just fine as it is...
7,17,18 & 30 are all-time favs of mine and sound as good today as they did back then.
I'm guessing that it was "Poisoning Pigeons in the Park" that put an end to the dreaded 50's & launched the following decade; though you can tell from this disc that 1959 was still basically 50's, there are a few hints of things to come, a good blend. (Happy August 26, April 20!)
Damn it April 20! Im kicking myself. I love that song...
Never really knew 1959 was such a bitchin' year in music. Nicely put together.
nice work
OUTSTANDING!!
Vintage
Crazy. And good all around. :-)
this was a great listen. many favorites, with new or renewed appreciation for Jackie Wilson, Frankie Avalon, The Flamingos, Preston Epps and Marty Robbins. can't wait for the next edition.
BTW, by 'vintage', I meant the music, not April 20
very kewl !
1959? Wasn't that before the British invasion?
looks like a shed load of fun was had by all . . . . nice work (I have a truly dreadful version of Lover Potion Number 9 by the Tygers of Pan Tang - a NWOBHM band (eek) - I'm gonna play it now and blame you guys).
This is the start of something brilliant, I can feel it. Great notes. You should publish a magazine -- I'd subscribe.
