Comment:

A mish mash from 1982. Compiled for Salman1, Siobhan, and abangaku. We think it sounds great despite the bad press The Eighties got. So these to us are not so much guilty pleasures as just plain pleasures. Happy 1982!

Nice touch at the end man. Its all kinda corny stuff on here. But hell, it's a documentation of pop, so I guess it's gonna be pretty silly in the eighties.

Not corny to me, oh the memories, got kicked out the house by me parents' best thing that ever happened to me! Mind you #14 is my all-time worst record I ever heard, just can't stand Mc(Mac)kenzies warbling!!!!

Ah, yes, 1982 stands out for King Sunny Ade's "Juju Music"!

Hooray! Great one here - loads of nice picks. Love the Jam, Orange Juice, and Devo and, like hemizen mentioned, the little post-punk stretch of Pere Ubu -> Associates there. Much appreciated and further proof that the eighties weren't too bad at all ;)

I kinda liked that year in music and there are lots of reasons why right here.

Very cool. Not a bad year at all. Can't argue with Safety Dance.

The 80's were very much like the 70's. While there is cream that rises to the top, as Hunter S. Thompson pointed out that "the scum also rises."Meaning, in my way-too-early-to-be-out-of-bed manner, that this marvelous mix is a grand reminder that there is much to enjoy, should one simply look. Thanks for looking for us!

Plenty on this to like. The 80's really weren't that bad.

Ah, the year I was born. Great collection of tunes here. I cringe at the Springsteen pick, but I understand why it's there. Great punk and new-wave selections. My only critique is the lack of reggae. Some fantastic records came out in '82 by the likes of Burning Spear and Black Uhuru. Still, quite an incredible feat you've accomplished for such a mediocre year in music.

So, the skinny on the Eighties is that music was generally bad? Huh, had no idea. This mix certainly does much to correct that impression. So much of this takes me back. But that Altered Images track is fairly atrocious.

gotta confess that I wasn't (still not) really into 80s music, but there's some pretty good tracks here. For the record, 1982 was the year I passed my driving test and the year I was 'asked' to leave school!

finally got to give this a listen. maybe I'm easy, but I pretty much loved the entire thing, including the warbling of The Associates and that atrocious Altered Images song. many old favorites here (Devo, Clash, Prince, Dexy's Midnight Runners, Virgin Prunes) mixed with some great songs that were new to me (Grandmaster Flash, Agentss, Dalek I Love You and that lovely Springsteen song). I only hope someone at AotM was born in 1981!
