this mix is for my baby daughter Little Star. she was born on 4/27/06, and was adopted by a lesbian couple in Georgia. i wanted to give her some songs that can sortof be used as lullabyes, but are also indicative of the way i feel about her--a little sad, a little longing, but mostly so happy that she exists. each song was carefully chosen to depict a certain idea--but right now, i suppose the most important song on there is the cover of "You Are My Sunshine." my own mother used to sing this song to me when i was little, and although it used to make me sad, it was still a comfort to hear. i like that i can pass this song along to my own daughter. and, as i just found out, it is the state song of louisiana...& if you know me, you know what that means. new orleans is dear to me.
