Comment:

Something made for Barrydali, whose collaborative "Devil Makes Work..." mixes are always worth checking out. He's working on a mix for me as well, so hopefully he'll post it in the days to come. So what do we have here? Some twee pop, a number of songs from the 60s, 70s and 80s and a token cover or two. I've always wanted to pair up that Reparata track with the Smiths' song it inspired (at least sonically), so it's finally represented here. "Mr. Tough" is one of several gems on the new Yo La Tengo release and "Girls Use Deodorant..." is the catchiest song never to be used in a commercial. Hopefully the devilishly handsome Barry will find this to his liking!

I have to admit a fair amount of ignorance, but what I recognize looks nifty. (Is the Shins track a T.Rex cover? Haven't seen that before.) And, yes, "Mr. Tough" is fun, though I have to admit I wasn't as overwhelmed by the Yo La Tengo album as most critics out there (which pains me to say, as they're among my favorite bands, and I was so happy to see them getting electic and noisy again after their last, somewhat weak album).

Wonderful, wonderful. Barry's gonna dig this. Hope I get to hear it sometime soon also. The Reparata track intruiges me..

Looks like a masterpiece, Devil Moe. Brazilian Girls and Herman's Hermits seem to co-exist so perfectly.

Gotta give a thumbs up to the Yo La Tengo track. Sounds like Ira channeling Curtis Mayfield.
