Comment:
The Rolling Stones really ought to do a full country album. In the meantime I have put together this collection of Stones country or at least countryish songs. The alternate Wild Horses alledgedly has Gram Parsons playing pedal steel.
Feedback:
"wild horses" just happens to be my all-time favorite rolling stones song, & one of my top ten favorite songs of all-time, overall. i'm pretty fond of the rolling stones' country excursions in general, so this looks pretty fantastic to my eyes.
I was so pleased to this I ran 20 red lights inyour honour!
I feel no desire to argue about your selections. I also share Mr. Lombardi's love of that song. All in all, I appear, unlike Mr. Jagger, to be satisfied.
No allegedly about it. Gram Parsons hung out with the Stones throughout this period (and almost missed some Flying Burrito Brothers concerts except Mick admonished him to be a professional and 'do your job'. "Country Honk" was also unofficially (no credit) produced by Gram. This is a WONDERFUL collection (since I am knee deep in country-rock right now. Thanks you!
Good lookin' tracklist here XYZ! French Connection will always be by your side....
Far Away Eyes" was the reverse of the 7-inch record "Miss You" and did both sides get played to beat the deuce! Guess what? If I tell someone to "Kiss my grits!" I don't believe the reply should be, "No problem, little lady but only if I can git red gravy and biscuits wit' it."
Just found this, four years on! I'd have included Far Away Eyes as well, but this is a great idea. As to "Wild Horses," GP never played pedal steel, but legend has it that Keith sent him a demo of Wild Horses in hopes that he'd get Flying Burrito Brothers pedal-steeler Sneaky Pete Kleinow to sweeten the track. Gram loved the tune so much that he and the Burritos "covered" it and released their own version on the Burrito Deluxe album a year before Sticky Fingers came out.
