Comment:

In 1978 fitness was the name of the game as normally sensible people donned lycra as the nation was caught in the grip of a jogging craze.

Disco fever had also firmly taken hold making hairy chests and medallions the order of the day as Saturday Night Fever finished up the third top grossing movie, behind Christopher Reeve in red underpants, and more dancing Travolta in Grease.

Sadly the last dance came for Chris Bell, Keith Moon, Sandy Denny, Jacques Brel, and Louis Prima.

Though new arrivals included Sisq=, Julian Casablancas, and Usher... Ok not exactly a fair trade, but who said life was fair? Even in '78.

Hope you enjoy this latest episode. This one's for you Ms Orchid..

The lack of jazz in this series is distressing to only me, it seems, but your comprehensiveness otherwise is comendable and then some! But could you comb around for a jazz track when you get to 1972? For little ol' me?

My favorite here is the Big Star tune. I think my mom listened to it while I was in her belly (she was told by her doctor to avoid Warren Zevon).

The 13-16 and 21-23 runs are amazing and the Ian Dury track is an all-time fav. Another scorcher.

A fine year, though stuck with the difficult position of being wedged in between 1977 (a personal fave, when punk broke loose) and 1979 (when punk met rock and post-punk started to emerge).

Some good picks for 1978.
So, based on your research of the various years, which year had the worst hair styles?

1985 Ed without a doubt but thats coming god help us, we need to get in character to do these you know! They arent just thrown together. I shall be re-cultivating a mullet and putting on my marble washed jeans, Sam is this minute getting to grips with the origins of hair metal and power ballads. I'm not sure who drew the short straw.... B

great work, guys. full of top tunes, but for some reason the two 'fly' songs (Cramps & Wire) appeal to me most today. and I'd trade three Keith Moons and a Sandy Denny for just one Orchid any day.
