Comment:

The Buffalo News reported on August 6, 2006, two years to the date of his death, the placement of a gravestone at Forest Lawn Cemetery. The two ton headstone is four feet nine inches high by four feet wide. The title is from track #02 here and penned by Mr. James Ambrose Johnson a/k/a Rick James...biatch!

Excellent, Karen! A fitting eulogy. And thanks for the links to YouTube. A great way to spend my lunch time.

This looks intriguing, as I know all of two Rick James tunes (both of which I like). I'll have to give it a listen.

Nice work, Ms. Karen! James was a prolific Motown multi-tasker who sang, played, composed, arranged and made us all Super Freak on the dance floor.

As an aside, see his Wikipedia page for the toxicology report on what was in his bloodstream when he died -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rick_James

Really cool tribute - and I didn't know that about the toxicology report. Makes for scary reading. Anyway, love the stuff I know here and it's definitely put me in the mood to hear more.

What?! Rick James is dead? When the hell did that happen? Yes, the man wrote some great funky moments, most of it captured here. Give it to me, give it to me.

Yes, indeedy. Quite funky. Yes, yes, yes. You have, without a shadow of a doubt, brought the funk. How simply splendidly funky, I must say.

I work across the street from Forest Lawn and the Rick James gravesite has quickly become a mecca of sorts for many. Lots of people go looking for it. BTW, great mix.
