From the vaults: I made this mix last year for Jean-Yves1 in order to help him improve his German, but was too stupid to keep a copy of either the mix or the tracklist for myself. With autumn (and therefore the perfect season for listening to Element of Crime) approaching, I was starting to regret this and asked him to send me the tracklist so I could re-assemble it for myself. He sent it today, and he couldn't have chosen a more appropriate day for it (changing the clocks to winter time! wind! thunderstorms!). Thanks again for typing this up, Jean-Yves!

I gotta learn some German. Is that something about White Paper in #19? Looks well done, but I don't know Element of Crime or why they would particularly fit autumn - feel free to explain...

Yes, indeed, that's something about White Paper in #19. Element of Crime, erm - well, they have trumpets and play the kind of music (and write the kind of lyrics - and let me tell you, they write brilliant lyrics) that relies heavily on the somewhat romanticised and heavily nostalgic feelings that seem to go so well with autumn. They also write about falling leaves and rain and about turning back the clock an hour while feeling nostalgic about the fact that summer has passed a lot. So, autumn music. Maybe a bit like the Tindersticks or the Walkabouts if they sang in German?
