Another great year (although I believe most of my time that year was spent recording Dr. Demento on Reel to Reel or watching Chess on TV!).
Simply splendid.
Thank you, chaps. What a wonderful year this was. And for music, too! ; ) I'll report back in greater depth after I've given it a listen.
Lots and lots of fun.
Exciting year for me and a lot of this music was why.
wonderful, this was probarbly the year that I start to love music for real
wow! another scorcher here, you two can do no wrong as far as i'm concerned...
I remember tracks 5, 6, & 21 were big faves of mine back then..I also remember getting into the same things that Mark Petruccelli was into as well (I was digging that Stuck in the Middle tune while I pondered the middle of a chess game in a New Jersey barracks).
This looks great. Much better than I think this year should look.

I heard that Blunstone song for the first time about a year ago, but my AM radio was broadcasting Todd R., the Raspberries, Stevie and Sly. Thanks for the memories. Now I need to dig out my Big Wheel and ride off into the sunset....
Never thought of 72 as an especially significant pop year but this has me re-considering.
Love the home stretch. And the Roxy track is the capper. Should make the cognescenti think....

This is just wonderful. In 1972 I was just about old enough to listen to the radio, but not yet old enough to be all snobby and refuse to listen to top 40. It's even better than I remember!
Proof positive that every year has great music when you dig deep enough.
Coo-ul. Great 16-17 two-fer.
Beautifully Executed.
Splendid!
Ah, '72. I'm told that came between '71 and '73. Since I spent most of that year as described in Mr Prine's song, these tunes sound vaguely familiar. But it's all a blur, so I'll have to take your word for it being '72. And thanks for the link! Great job.
'Twas a very good year...
so fine. love the Jorge Ben Jor and Malo tracks (as probably expected) and Lou Reed, Nick Drake. hadn't heard that great Roxy Music song before, nor "San Vincente," which may be my favorite here. greeat woork.
A fantastic year, and a great looking mix. If I had done it, I would have put in some Deep Purple and Savoy Brown, and cut down on the more FM radio friendly stuff like Paul Simon and America. But you did it, and it looks really good.
Excellently compiled, once again. I had almost forgotten how much I love that John Prine song, so thanks for the reminder.
stealers wheel!!
I did download this but for some reason didn't leave a comment?! Anyway, it is very awesome indeed. Amazingly good cuts and just a great listen overall; this series continues to rock the boat. Thanks for including the Staple Singers!
