Helped bring socially conscious hip hop to the mainstream. Click song tiles that are in blue for a hotlink to video with same title. De La Speaks!Feedback:
Hmm. Interesting single-artist choice...
I recently rediscovered their debut (I've been trying to turn my son on to the small number of hip-hop artists I enjoy), and found it still holds up as a rare example of creativity that pushed the boundaries beyond the more (to my ears) mundane and cliched aspects of the genre. Though some of the between-song stuff is eminently skippable. Can't say I know much (or, for that matter, any of their later work, though.
Excellent.
Nice selection of a fav of mine. Has it really been 17 years since Me,Myself and I?
great stuff
Ahhhhhhhhhh
That first record was a tough act to follow, and they still haven't been able to come close. But they did manage to hit those highs a few times on later releases, and you've covered the bases pretty solid.
Oh yes. Love De La Soul and I love your selections.
No really, it is "all good".
<3 them!
Oh, amazing. Party soundtrack, yes it is...
Freakin awesome collection Miss Karen. Tonight I'm gonna party like it's 1989...
Conroy gives us A Tribe Called Quest and you give us De La Soul. A pretty good week for old school hoop hop on AOTM!
"hip" hop!
Pop Kulcher:I am for music exploration for folks at all ages!Mark Petruccelli:Hard to believe it has been 17 years since that first single dropped.
Moe:Yeah!
Mister Conroy rocks and so do Tribe and De La.
p the swede, Luke79, Nomates: It's amazing to look back at an always evolving genre such as Hip Hop and a group strictly from the Soul called De La with a collection from me, myself and I!

sammyg123: YouTube is the perfect time-machine to get the party started!
11/16 is not a bad ratio for the video links. Enjoy the look of it all.
I started bouncin' reading the tracklist..!
Excellent. And I don't think I can believe it...has it REALLY been 17 years. Man. So much fun stuff here.
