Comment:
Pre-Holiday insanity. I remember clearly how I used to boldly declare how I hated rap. I've also said that I hated country, but that's another story.... Several of these songs were axed from either Cherokee Dogs or Tom Gugliotta. Others have been recently discovered/rediscovered. A few notes: "Licensed To Ill" was the first chink in my anti-rap armor (hey, I'm not the only white suburban kid to discover hip hop through Beastie Boys) and "She's Crafty" also pointed me to the fact that "The Ocean" was a pretty cool song, too. "3 Feet High And Rising" is one of my favorite all time albums and "Jenifa..." features one of my favorite lyrics: "in fact she teased so many, she was known as a garden tool." Also included here is a healthy smattering of Danger Mouse. He may be producer de jour, but it's hard to dispute the results. Last minute exclusions included Public Enemy and a back and forth on about three or four Beastie Boys tracks before settling on "Crafty." Mesh 91.
