Comment:
A new friemd of mine from Argentina is training with our company for a few months. The only exposure I have had to Argentinian music is Astor Piazzolla's album with Gerry Mulligan and some Argentinian Ska I heard in a cab ride in Mexico City. When he heard that he gave me 6+ hours of MP3's. The tunes span Tangos, Jazz, Blues, Rock, Rockabilly. Folk and various combinations thereof. This mix is some of my favorites culled down to 80 minutes.I am particolarly fond of the three artists that kick this off (and appear multiple times on it): Dividoes is very soulful singer/somgwriter stuff (it drives me nuts that I speak absolutely no Spanish, I'm dying to know what he's singing about!). Los Twist is described on Wikipedia as Rockabilly but they sound a little like Ian Dury to me. The cream of the crop is Bersuit Vergerabat. My friend tells me that the lyrics are extremely funny (you have to love a band that performs in Pajamas and claims to have escaped from a mental institution). The music is infectious and again I know I am only getting half the experience. Anyway. another musical world is opened up for me.
Feedback:
I do like the sound of a pyjama wearing band.
Looks lovely. I'd love to hear this.
interesting
I know none of this but look forward to hearing it in mid-December...
This looks really interesting. Pyjamas are cool.
Looks very cool. Would love to hear this..
Looks fantastic and a really interesting exploration of music from that part of the world. Would love to hear it and wish I could speak Spanish!
I would love to hear this as well...
I would love to hear this as well...
Put me on the would love to list Mark, this looks well cool.
Been wanting to put together a Psych Tumbler for Argentina...this may be the needed inpiration. This is fantastic...of what I am familiar. Would love to hear this.
Always love to see the southern hemisphere getting some play. Yeah, I'm very curious about this stuff as well.
I too love to listen to things I don't understand, and in this case it looks like it would be a trip and a half. Any chance I could trade you something for this one????
This looks incredible. Not familiar with music from Argentina except for Juana Molina so I'm really in awe of what you created!
I gotta hear that Spanish Ian Dury!
Know nothing here but a great-and greatly enticing, set of notes. (Isn't Babasonicos from there, too?)
Wowie! This looks sooo great. May I have a copy?
I'm a huge fan of music from the southern part of the Americas (and Mexico too). this looks like a terrific collection, though I've no idea what any of this actually sounds like. a cab ride in Mexico City sounds like the perfect way to learn about some great new music.
Bersuit Vergarabat are the kings man, though I would just call this "rock". íBievenido al mundo!
