Comment:

A reworking of my Zevon tribute posted the day after he died in 2003. I had a request for a copy and didn't have my original so I decided to add some tunes which I discovered more recently and to go for some flow instead of listing it chronologically.
Warren remains one of my favorite singer/songwriters, his twisted dense of humor and unique choices in subject matter are what drew me to him but he could also write a beautiful lyric when he chose to. This mix has a little of both and covers his career pretty completely. Again, I decided not to include covers, otherwise Rasberry Beret, Back In The High Life Again and Knockin On Heaven's Door would have all made it. Last tracks cut; Play It All Night Long, Accidently Like A Martyr, Looking For The Next Best Thing, Reconsider Me and My Shit's Fucked Up. Title is of course from Werewolves Of London.

Looks really good, Mark, although I must confess that "Accidentally Like a Martyr" (one of your "last tracks cut") would figure prominently on any Zevon mix that I'd compile.

And this mix is (almost) perfect.
Play It All Night Long and Splendid Isolation would have made my final list. Easy call. What I would have cut to make room for them is a far trickier call.

Admittedly, I am quite unfamiliar with the man's work. This seems like a fantastic roadmap to rediscovery though. Thanks!

I have one album by Mr Zevon,a nd shamefully it's a best of. So I know a fair few here. Love what I've heard so I may purchase some more of his albums. Good starting point?

another bullseye. i find it interesting that wanted dead or alive never gets any play. do people not own it or do people not like it?
tule's blues and bullet for ramona would make my list (and werewolves wouldn't).

Beautiful!!! Warren was as unique as the music he created; always interesting if given the chance.

Once he hit his groove, I'm not sure the man really put out a bad song. I highly recommend the interview tracks on Preludes, Disk 2. Excellent overview, I was off planet at the time of this mix.
