Comment:
90 minutes long. What can you say about the Blue Bomber, the character and games inspired by Astro Boy, the Mega Man series? Well it's Capcom's most plentiful series with over 50 titles, that's even more than Street Fighter. The original Mega Man games for the NES, now known as the classic series, are still some of the best video games ever made. Mega Man also boasts the most recognizable and beloved video game music of the 8-bit era, tied only with Mario and Zelda. Practically all well learned video game music enthusiasts will agree that the soundtrack for Mega Man 2 is still one of the best video game soundtracks of all time, I absolutely agree. While I don't have the room here to go into a Mega Man history lesson, here are 2 great sites you can check out. Great overall series info ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mega_Man_Classic ) + the breakdown, sprites, and screenshots of each individual game ( http://freexbresse.free.fr/mmf/mm1.html ) (just change the mm1 to mm1-6 for all the games). As far as the actual aspects of this album go, I took some burned tunes from various sources, and I used my official ( http://www.chudahs-corner.com/soundtracks/index.php?catalog=CPCA-1064%7E6 ) to form the ultimate classic Mega Man soundtrack. I edited around 6 hours of music down to 1 1/2, getting the right track length and edits, plus figuring out what tracks to cut because they were simply not good enough was tough, but I am very pleased and proud of my final album cut. Though you cannot listen to the exact album I have crafted, you can listen to the songs for FREE right here ( http://gh.ffshrine.org/soundtracks/m ). Just scroll down and click on any Megaman original title (wait a second) then click on a track and download it, it's that safe and easy!!! I recommend listening to some Mega Man II if you never have before, Dr. Wily Stage 1 ;) The pains and joy of putting this together was doubled with making the album art, that lineup of all the Mega Man robot enemies took me a while. I won't list them all but each row from back to front is the game bosses from the first game to the last, with Dr. Wily the series' recurring enemy being at the top right in his classic red U.F.O. On the album spine is: Dr. Light, he created Mega Man (Rock Man in Japan); Roll, Mega Man's sister created by Light (Rock and Roll, get it); Mega Man; Rush, Mega Man's dog who first appeared in 3; Beat who appeared in 5 created by Dr. Cossack; Eddie/Flip-Top, another Light creation that helps out Mega Man in the field; Kalinka the daughter of Dr. Cossack who appears in 4; Dr. Cossack the main adversary of 4 only because Wily blackmailed him by kidnapping Kalinka; and finally Proto Man/Blues, Mega Man's brother who first appeared in 3 under the alias "Break Man" and saved Mega Man's life. The touching end screen of that game ( http://freexbresse.free.fr/mmf/megaman3/end/end5.gif ). While I don't agree in the direction the series has gone, and I have basically forsaken it, the original 6 NES games remain pinnacles in video gaming fun and great video game music. Look for a possible second album by me featuring the music from the SNES Mega Man 7, the PSX Mega Man 8, and the Gameboy I-V games.THE END.Feedback:
jesus f'n christ. this is wonderful. original mm is where it's at. oh lord. who doesnt get their hairs poppin that first time where the music builds and the camera rises up the side of a building and the opening to megaman 2? or the end of mm2 for that matter, maybe the best ending to a game ever. it makes you forget all about the mega man from captain n the game master. is it just me, or does some of the music from mega man 1 remeniscent of the guitar solos from the song runaway? anyway. awesome awesome awesome. best mix of 200x.
hey, i was looking through your mixes after seeing Video Game Masterpieces Vol. 10... i do most heartily appreciate this mix, and i love Mega Man games... and the site you linked to isn't working any more! isn't that a bummer? do you think you could fill me in on something more current that works, perhaps, for old time's sake and all...?Mega Man 7 probably has my favorite music among the classic series -- i was humming Slash Man's music to myself for years without knowing where it came from, plus i was humming Spring Man's music to myself for years knowing and *quite proud* of where it came from! but i'd still have to say that the best Mega Man music i've ever heard is from Mega Man X3 for the Super NES -- Gravity Beetle, Blizzard Buffalo, Toxic Seahorse, Neon Tiger, Volt Catfish, you know the drill...actually, also, do you know where to find any of the music from the Donkey Kong Country series? i've been looking for that for ages....
