The tradition since 2006 continues and ends this year.

110 minutes long. 31 tracks. Some tracks downloaded, many ripped from cds, all edited and sound balanced. A monstrous listening experience. My eighth and final Halloween album in the Definitive line.

I bring the series full circle with this album. Like the first album did, number 8 deals with haunted houses and aliens but far more so this time. The cover and spine of this album are taken from CHILLER (1989). The interior with track listing is art taken from Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds (1978). You may notice an infinity symbol next to the 8. An 8 on its side is infinity, and to paraphrase Bela Lugosi, "Halloween never ends."

Side 1. HalloweeN (KreationX MiX) uses alot of samples from the original Halloween movies and it couldn't be more fitting. John Zacherle chimes in with Happy Halloween. John is a legendary TV personality out of Philadelphia and as of this writing he is still alive at 95! House of Horrors a fun novelty was created by Merv Griffin, yes the man who made the Jeopardy game show. The Monsters Hop references a house on a hill, the interior of which is revealed in Amityville (The House on the Hill). An incredibly addictive rap piece from the 80s with a hilarious cameo by Captain Kirk! Mike Oldfield is best known for Tubular Bells. Here we have Mike giving us Tubular X which is a remix of Mark Snow's X-Files theme combined with Tubular Bells. Haunted House (the original by Johnny Fuller) combines a haunted house with a man from outer space, our second melding of scary houses and aliens, Amityville being the first. The Lurch done by Ted Cassidy who played Lurch on The Addams Family is a great little piece. The old jazz number Halloween Spooks features probably the most insane Halloween
scatting you will ever hear in your life. Things start to get hairy as the id is awakened in Little Princess of Professor Morbius (Forbidden Planet) and as a result things turn murderous in Dr. Jekyll, Spooky Scary Skeletons and Bela Lugosi's Dead. Bela Lugosi's Dead is a near 10 minute epic gothic rock song by Bauhaus. In terms of horror and aliens, it doesn't get much better than Bela Lugosi in Plan 9 from Outer Space. Undead undead.

Side 2. Opening Sequence is very high quality digital effects (state of the art in 1989). It features a thunderstorm and what happens to a woman caught in it. Things get morose during Suicide is Painless and This House is Haunted, but they slowly turn around. The Men In Black are out in force during E.T.I. They can't keep the lid on things when Mars starts invading earth in The Eve of the War, an amazing bit of work from Jeff Wayne's musical version of War of the Worlds. Earth's women are taken in Mars Needs Women and the human race itself begins to be devastated in the rabid Misfits hit Astro Zombies (taken from Walk Among Us). The second side is tent poled by the near 7 minute instrumental and vocal insanity that is Hocus Pocus by Focus. Further aliens invade (Purple People Eater and the Green Slime, The Green Slime being probably the best silly science fiction theme song of all time). Enough is enough as the unstoppable tag team of the Ghostbusters and Captain Kirk roll in to clean up the town and restore the status quo (for at least another year). The album closes with Weird Science. Is there anything weirder than creating a living being, or a mix tape?... The first Halloween album closed with Science Fiction/Double Feature and 8 closes with the Reprise. The Reprise opens with a music box and the last track on this album is The Music Box. The original sound of the music box used in Night of the Living Dead (1968).
