Damone were my guilty pleasure of last summer, and I made myself sick of their album, but the title track still rocks me in a "Kelly Clarkson suddenly becoming the new singer for The Foo Fighters" sort of way. I liked Islands and Sunset Rubdown a lot more than I thought I would considering that I didn't quite like The Unicorns and Wolf Parade as much as other people seemed to. I bought Ho-Ag's album at a merch booth as they played an awesome all-Devo cover set last Halloween, if you like early Devo, Les Savvy Fav and/or Braniac I reccomend them. The Flaming Lips' At War With The Mystics was somewhat of a letdown, but I still really liked that Yes-sounding number with a choir of Steve Drozds on vocals. The Format track brings me back to the first two Ben Folds Five albums and had a video featuring a lipsyncing hand wearing a jaunty hat. I felt like putting "Crazy" on here was like putting "Hey Ya!" on a best of the year mix in 2003, but then I realized that when I did make a best of 03 mix "Hey Ya" was in fact on it, so that makes it okay. Or something.
