Comment:
How do you make a mix for someone you haven't seen in over ten years? Not that she'll even get this one, but this is a very real version to a hypothetical audience. Now, I haven't been obsessing all this time, but call it the wintertime blues or whatnot, I've just been thinking about her alot recently. Many of the songs, perhaps even tangentally, in lyric or simply in title, describe some of the things I would like to say to her. My first goal in creating this was to throw out the convention of appealing to her musical tastes (or what they were 10-plus years ago). Now, not that I went completely off the deep end, I wanted it to be listenable, but there are more than a few at which she'd probably scratch her head. I've been planning this in my head for a while now, like working a jigsaw puzzle, looking for pieces. I hope I didn't rush anything and cram pieces where they really shouldn't go. I did have to cut a few tracks, but I have no regrets about the ones I did, nor about resisting the temptation to blow it up into a double-disc, which probably would have ended up with a lot of filler. Maybe I'll try to get it to her somehow, maybe not... By the way, the cover pays homage to MY favorite record store (since there seems to be some of that going around)... Mesh 93.
Feedback:
Give it to her. What can you possibly lose?
Here is what you do: file it away for another ten years and then present it as the 20 year mix. That Hugh Cornwell track is nice to see.
I can't imagine any girl not loving this, especially tracks 1-8.
I agree with locovinagre. This should open her eyes (and ears).
