Comment:

Well, last week I finally entered the 21st Century and got a High Speed connection ar home. I can finally download a song in less than 40 minutes and a disc in less than a day and a half. I have celebrated by downloading everything I can find that is free and legal. This mix ia my first all-download mix.
I have been pleasantly surprised by the depth and variety of material that is beng put out there and the ploy is working, I've already ordered three CDs from this mix alone. This is a combination of artists I already knew and loved (Janis Ian, Andrew Bird ....), artists I had heard of but not had much/any exposure to (Black Keys, Pernice Brothers ....) and folks I had never heard of (Pop Levi, Nate Yahoo....) All tracks were downloaded from music.download.com, links are to the artists page on that site. Future mixes are planned from this and several other free sites. Title is roughly paraphrased from "Rubber Biscuit"

Wait to see what's in store for you on the "illegal-ish" side of the downloading mountain. Good GOD!!! The amount of music available via Blogs/Forums and the like is astonishing and a bit scary. Anyhoo, your escovation has mined many fine riches, indeed.Btw, Terry must be speaking of me. My name is musicgnome, and I am a blogaholic.

Ha! Mahdishain's last comment is so apt... I don't know much here, Mark (at least not the specific songs), but it looks pretty cool.

Nice, nice. When you do discover the good stuff in the vast amount of dross out there, feel free to filter it through the magic of AotM so we all get a listen...

There is a ton of stuff out there. Ruth has got it right, the challenge is to "discover the good stuff in the vast amount of dross out there." Welcome to the wonderful world of broadband. Bring on the gigabytes!

Pop Levi is currently big in the Frenchy household. Great mix but be warned I never slept after I, "entered the 21st century."

Yep, I'm with Frenchy on the Pop Levi tune. A corker. Other faves on here are 1, 4, 5, 6 & 10. Welcome to Broadband Mark, you'll never leave...

Nice one! I'm jealous of your high speed connection, as it still takes me 15 minutes to DL a three minute song on my 56K modem. Keep discovering those great tunes on the net!

Sounds like fun... I wasted three hours last week watching Stereolab videos on youtube so goodness knows what'd happen if I had download. A real nice mix to start with!
