Comment:
I recently read Donovan's autobiography so naturally I had to make a mix. It is amazing how autobiographical his songs are.
Feedback:
i read one last year but was not so inspired. good job mixing the familiar with the less played tracks.
I like Donovan - must admit tis pretty much nails the essential!
gotta admit i'm not much of a donovan fan, but this certainly makes me rethink my position, as even i like some of the songs featured here (particularly the closer)
Some great songs. i love 'Hurdy Gurdy Man'.
I absolutely adore Donovan, good sir, and did one of these a few years ago ("One man's opinion of moonlight"). I bemoan the absence of early classics like "Jersey Thursday" and "To Sing for You," as well as skipping what could be my all-time favorite ("Sand and Foam"), but applaud you loudly for almost all of this.
Excellent!
Lots of memories- some recent- connected with these songs. Catch The Wind my fav. I could never understand Season OF The Witch. For years I have wondered what the lyrics meant. Great mix!
Bloody Marvellous. It shows how consistently great he was when you can afford to leave off one of his biggest hits ( Mellow Yellow ) of a Mix of his..
Great picks - I would have include Superlungs, but that's just me!
Terrific tribute. Rob's aforementioned mix helped introduce mw to this man and his guitar. But you both failed to include his most essential song, which of course is "I Love My Shirt."
I heard that he teaches guitar in Windsor now! Not sure if that is true, but this does cover all essential points . . . . excellent !
Great artist and great mix. He opened for Yes at my first Rock show ('77)
Groovy.
all beautiful - can't imagine making a single disc Donovan mix; guess that's why I never did one. i'm with moe on 'i love my shirt' - the ladies in my house like that one best.
As I said to you b4 Terry, he can sing so give me Donovan over Dylan any day! I'm not really a Donovan afficionado but have heard enough to recogniswe this mix as a nigh on definitive of his best work.
Donovan... an essential artists for any collection and of course everyone's list of favorites would be different but equal.
I watched "Zodiac" recently, and that Donocan tracks used especially "Hurdy Gurdy Man" was perfect for the film. Great job here on a very underrated musician.
