Exclusive web download introduced by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO) and Scottish TV last month was a huge hit with classical music lovers.The download was introduced as an added benefit to the RSNO's popular Classic Bites concerts in Glasgow and Edinburgh last month, allowing concert-goers to download the performance for future enjoyment immediately after the concert for the very first time. The music was made available for download in mp3 format from a specially designed website hosted by Scottish TV.
More than 6,700 music files - almost 900 hours of music - were downloaded from the Scottish TV website following the two concerts, with Mozart being the most downloaded composer.
I do not have access to the RSNO recordings at this time so for continuity London Symphony Orchestra is used here.

Zoe, this is great. Wish I'd known about the LSO's downloads at the time. There does seem to be an increasing number of classical pieces available on line, though. The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum here in Boston offers free downloads of a music series on their web site. The BSO is woefully behind on this. At some point they'll get it and start to provide the same service that Instant Live provides to popular music series.

Wolfgang was indeed the great composer, and this selection confirms this. It's a shame no-one ever remembers his son -- Little Tommy Mozart -- now there was a lad who played a mean piano -- the Jerry Lee Lewis of his day. Then there was Freddie Mozart, well he could make that violin.....

I must confess to being a complete ignoramus when it comes to classical music. Having said that, we do regularly have Mozart playing (or at least my wife does) and we all enjoy it, but, I haven't a clue what exactly we listen to.With this kind of recommendation to go by, I'll try harder and maybe even start my lessons here. Thanks.
