Comment:
From the keyboard of Rob Conroy: Another purely collaborative mix. This one's for Daniel, SwankQueen's soon-to-be-three-year-old nephew. It's hard to explain exactly what the criteria were for each song's inclusion, but it's fair to say that a lot of these were songs that both of us loved as small children growing up in the early '70s and a lot of them are just plain *fun*. I'm sure that SwankQueen will have much more to say in this regard, so I'll leave it to her. From SQ: Hmmm, that sums it up, I guess. Green Eyed Lady was my first real "favorite song", and it was an early one for RC, as well. Daniel likes typical stuff like dancing, spinning til he's dizzy, and sometimes yodeling. He always says "see ya later, alligator". If I can pry him away from The Doodle Bops CD long enough to give this effort a listen, he will probably dig it.
Feedback:
give this to a three year old, & they'll be a pop music fan for life - amazing job. the who & beatles songs really connect with me on a childhood level - great stuff from the modern lovers, harry nilsson, the flaming lips, the clash, hank williams, de la soul...
fun stuff
My two year old grand-daughter would love this, if I could get her away from Pipi Longstocking.
I love this. Lots of favorites!
Yes, my daughter love "The Magic Number." I'll play some of these for her as well.
Wow. Great mix for Children young & old. Suffice to say I'd love a copy of this, me & Ava are dying to listen... She likes 1 & 7, daddy loves them all!
Pretty sweet stuff, y'all. All-time classic opener (for me, at least). Lots to love on here, for sure. Always count on extra quality when the SwankExpress comes to town.
Great place to start for three years old. Funky AWB, and Dave "Baby". Can't fail with the Clash.
It's an absolute joy influencing a child's musical tastes. One day I'll have to compile my daughters' favourite songs to bounce on the tampoline to! Daniel should love this, I sure do.
Amazing!
Enjoyed my sneak preview of this. The closer is a fav of my neice and nephew. I can't help but smile at the opener, one of my al-time favorite Saturday morning memories.
"Green Eyed Lady" once your favorite song? I definitely need to check that out now... I don't know why, but people usually snicker at me when I say I like "The Happy Organ", so thanks for validating me, kinda. Interesting to see Squeeze followed by Bowie followed by Flaming Lips and then some oldies, or that 3-9 stretch - creative! Also, can't go wrong with Saturday morning cartoon themes
Something to be said for thinking like a three-year-old, & definitely something to be said for just plain *fun*, which I'm sure this is.
what fun! this'll provide a great soundtrack to grow up with. love the De La Soul, Tom Tom Club, Melanie, Harry Nilsson... my hope is that this kid will one day become an international pop/hip-hop star who incorporates yodeling into every hit song. it's gotta happen sometime.
Absolutely wonderful.
I liked it - my child, on the other hand, has no patience for most of these songs are :-) She's much more into short happy ditties with instant kid-friendly riffs, like Rosie Flores' "Red red robin". Well, she does love "Tra la la" and the Monkees theme. Good stuff for adults here, though. As for Zilch .... I never really liked that tune. But that's me.
Oops - scratch that "are".
