Comment:
From the keyboard of Rob Conroy: This one is a bit different from our previous efforts, in that I had earmarked all of the above tracks for inclusion in my next mixed-genre mix, then left with my laptop in tow for a long weekend with SwankQueen. On my way there, I had a revelation: "Hey, wouldn't it be really cool/neat/nifty/swell if SQ took the songs I'd picked and sequenced them in her own inimitable style?" I asked my otherwise unoccupied car. "Why yes, it would," the OU car responded. I took the car's advice for the truly life-altering prophecy that it was and this is the very pleasing, mildly mind-bending (meaning that it is indeed mind-bending, but not in a way that would incite motion sickness or any other negative side effects) result. There is also a substantial chance that a gussied-up copy of this will be making its way to Weez at Mondo Video in Buffalo, as he hipped me to that Puppets cover (of the Young Rascals song) and would almost certainly dig the rest. Title by Becker & Fagen.Feedback:
Nice work you two.
Ahh, the notorious battle of the sequencers has called a truce with this effort. I dig it. Thanks for letting me take the helm with all of the terrific material you've provided, it was so much fun, I love every song on it, and it's interesting to see just how different our styles are, knowing what you'd have done if left to your own devices.
How do I listen to it?
Especially love the Beach Boys, Dylan and Equals picks!
what would you have done left to your own devices, Rob ?Lots to enjoy, but I'm drawn strangely to the older material here.
Very nice! Great Beefheart and Equals and James Brown picks, among many others.
Nicely done on both counts. The 5-6-7 run cranks. Great opener also.
jesus christ this is good - the dylan/band track, the beach boys, R.E.M., james brown & j dilla all knock me upside the head (in a good way) - very, very cool, would love to hear this one
Wow, you three (SwankQueen, Rob and Rob's car) are a good team, for sure. Looks great, unsurprisingly enough.
Oh likin' this one muchly.
