What More is a Rainbow than Colors Out of Reach?
Comment:
Last summer my friend KC (as she often has) suggested we go see a band I had never heard of. The Avett Brothers, looking a little like the Soggy Bottom Boys and sounding like no other alt country / punk folk / bluegrass / southern rock band I had ever heard, blew me away. Their '06 CD "Four Thieves Gone" was in my Top 5 for last year and their new one, "Emotionalism" is my favorite disc of '07 so far.For a band that has only put out 4 CDs and an EP since 2003, I could have justified a second disc. I decided to put together an 80 minute sampler to turn my good AOTM friends on to the boys (I did not include their live disc). Tunes are chronological and in album order.
Last tracks cut: Sorry Man, At The Beach, A Gift for Melody Anne, Salvation Song, Pretty Girl From Feltre, Left on Laura, Left on Lisa, The Lowering, When I Drink, Find My Love, Paranoia in B-Flat Major, The Weight of Lies, Pretty Girl From Chile, Go To Sleep and Hand-Me-Down Tune. Link for your exposure. Title from Track 3. See these guys live!

Feedback:
I love "16 in July" and a few others here. I'll be checking out the rest...
Looks interesting... any chance I could get a copy???
don't know thing one about these guys, mark, but your enthusiasm intrigues me endlessly - will be checking this out soon

Four Thieves Gone was one of my favorite albums last year too. I need to get the new one. Just saw that they are coming to town this fall. I'll be there.
I recently got hold of Emotionalsim and enjoyed it. Die Die Die very nearly made it onto my 07 round up. That's all I've got of theirs so many thanks for the link Mark...
Never heard of the band until now. Great introductory set, Mark. Decent band.
As judged by your description I am totally intrigued and have some investigations to do . . . .
