There's value in Ryan Adams' all-inclusive aesthetic where his own songs are concerned, but for most people, he needs an editor. That's always my impulse, in any case. Something I've considered for a while is what to do with his 2005 output. This might not be the album everyone would make of those four discs, but for me it's quick and entirely palatable -- stocked with standout tracks. I suppose my favorite is still 'Let It Ride.'
