Comment:

Filed under "country", because it didn't make much sense to file this under the same category as most of my mixed genre mixes, although clearly, some of this would belong under "blues" or "folk" or "whatever". Either way, this must be the quickest mix I've put together ever since I started taking flow and segues seriously. Conceived late last night, finished even later last night. The recepient is my father, who heroically fixed my bicycle earlier this week and who I figured might need a new mix for his cherry schnaps-distilling weekend starting tonight. A little rough around the edges sometimes (patchy audio quality and all that, and not segued in the way most of my mixes are), but I figure that's apt, considering the activities it's meant to accompany. Also, he handed me my fixed bicycle with the warning "don't pedal too hard, the fixation of the rear wheel is kinda improvised", so that's only fair.
I guess I've been conditioned into thinking of the Jimmy Denoon as an opener, as it also kicks off Nathan Salsburg's radio show of the same name. Title taken from the Richard and Linda Thompson track.
Update: Here's a download link, then.

You just KNOW what I think of this. See Robs wise words below and put a cherry (if there are any left) on top.

Cash, Hazlewood, Zandt, Guthrie, Belly (?) and Prine are all favorites, but don't know all these songs of theirs. hope there'll be some way to hear this soon, as it looks terrific.

Great Cash, Thomsons, Van Zandt, Avett. Guthrie, Whitmore, Prine and Elmore James tracks. This one hits me right in the side pocket.

Amazing. The last mix to feature that Bert Jansch track was MotW and got 66 comments, I hope this goes the same way :)

Beauty, thank you sir! I'll throw my five stars in the ring here as well...I've been hoping there would be some more country on this site soon, it was getting a little too slick for my taste, bring on the compost & Stag! By the way, I REALLY dig that Blind Willie track, I know I threw it on one of my Garden series way back when.

Since he fixed your bicycle, can he fix AOTM mail?

Looks perfect. Let's have shots of schnapps all around.

R.I.P. Lee Hazlewood.

Mixxer - considering that I had to guide him through the online registration forms of the ministry of finance for his distillation activities ("now you have to press "submit". the button's on the bottom right"), I'd say the chances are rather slim.

well, didn't get to this *soon* but pulled it from my AotM archives this morning and it fit the day to a T. in addition to the favorites I knew, loved the Blind Willie McTell and Sam Baker picks. real nice, Alex.
