Comment:
Ever since SammyG did his (2) mixes comprised of songs obtained from fellow AOTMers, I have planned on doing the same. I also have a love for a much-maligned mix category, namely Single Artist mixes. I enjoy SA mixes for several reasons: Sometimes they expose me to artists I am not familiar with or have only heard about. Other times they get me deeper into performers I am only casually aquainted with. Finally there are times I will seek out Single Artist mixes for artists I am very familiar with to see what the mixer's take on them is.This (2) 60 minute CD mix is a tribute to the category and to the many AOTM friends who have hooked me up. The first disc is comprised of tracks that I have traded for or downloaded from the mixers listed (many thanks to you all.) The second disc is all from SA mixes supplied by my good friend Rob Conroy over the last 7 years. It's no secret that he haas been feeding my addiction to new music for as long as I have known him. Many thanks and most respect.
This is all over the place but flows like I like it. Links available by request.
Feedback:
Honored to place two selections on this fine mix. The beauty of this site is the endless opportunities to expand one's horizon.
Fantastic. Thanks for the disc-long nod. This site is certainly great for expanding one's musical horizons. In fact, I should do one of these for lo-fi jr....
Top notch.
Very very cool. I'm pleased to have made the grade considering I'm not known for single artist mixes. Some real gems on here.
I'm honoured to be on here, too. I'm not usually as enthusiastic about Single Artist mixes as you are, but well, the greatness of the resulting two-CD set clearly proves your point about their value.
put together with an unrivaled passion - i salute you, mark, great tunes & alot of heart, what more can you ask for?
Glad to have inspired this in a small way, although nothing from my mixes make the grade. I must do better! I request a link.. In return I'll let you in to the cover art secret :)
Vive AotM and all those who contributed to this mix. I'm kinda reluctant to submit single artist mixes (only done 2 - Hendrix & The Stones)but mainly the reason for that is that I don't have sufficient material to do any more, however I am working on such a mix by my fave band The Brian Jonestown Experience given that I now own everything they've released on cd and I reckon I can come up with my own version of 'Tepid Peppermint Wonderland' not sure if I'll submit it on the site tho.
Cool idea for a mix.
nice
Nice one Mark! Glad one of my mixes was part of your inspiration. One of these days I'll be putting together a mix of music inspired by aotm discoveries as well.
A great tribute. I like the Funkadelic-Wu-Motorhead bit, and the immortal closer...
Cool - it's neat to be a part of this.
Sweet buttered toast, I need to drop by here more often. Belated "aw shucks"es for making the grade (twice! yes!), and I have to second your love of Single Artist mixes for exactly the same reasons!
