Comment:

A thank you mix for my brother mahdishain. On his last visit he let me run wild through his music files. I know he loves his girls so I thought I would make him a mix of "my" girls. The girl sounds of the 60's. I am hoping his jaw will drop when he hears the Dolly Parton track and I hope he will have better luck than me getting The Flirtations track out of his head.

Most of this stuff was background music drifting through our house from my three sister's bedrooms back in that day. That Flirtations track has been floating around in my head since the summer of 69 so good luck.

Orgasmic - there's nothing quite like the great pleasure of '60s girl group music. This is so extensive and across the spectrum, too, not just a greatest hits package. Bravo! Truly wonderful

after listening you are two for two. i didn't recognize the flirtations, nothing but a heartache by name but as soon as i heard it i knew it and it stuck. and dolly with the girl group sound? impossible. perhaps the twiggy tune is better in video. 7-9 is sublime, the closer a treasure and i am still trying to figure out what song the carole king tune reminds me of, it revivals it might as well rain until september as the best brill building era carol king sung song. beautiful!

Groovy, indeed! And I'm also a big fan of the Flirtations song... see them singing it at YouTube:

it's becoming impossible to keep up with all the great-looking mixes being posted for listening nowadays. still, no way did I want to miss this one. a delight! I've long been a fan of Tracey Ullman's cover of "Break-A-Way," and the Irma Thomas version is even better. also loved the Wanda Jackson, Lulu ("we'll blow a genie from a cigarette" has got to be one of the best song lyrics ever written), Shangri-Las, Ikettes, Carol King and Dolly Parton picks. but like I said, the whole thing was a real treat. thanks!
