I was putting together a "Latest Acquisitions" mix when I realized that alot of my favorite material from 2007 has been by female singers. This is an hour of the cream of the crop. all released this year, some from newcomers, some from old friends, all delightful. Link if you love the ladies.

Love the Amy Winehouse, Nina Nastasia and Lucinda Williams tracks and like the Rickie Lee Jones fairly well. Otherwise, well, you know this isn't my particular bag.... but I'm sure you've chosen well. :-)

And where do you stand on the issue of Joni Mitchell's album cover - do you prefer the version with the bare butts, or the one where they are covered by the word "Shine"?

you know what, mark? i was just thinking the same thought recently - all of my recent favorites have been females (though, admittedly, mostly different females than these). love the lucinda williams & amy winehouse here especially.
