Comment:

It's the series that refuses to die, though I'm sure a few of you wish it would! ;) Volume 5 is more of the same: kids singing their little hearts out. This edition includes some contemporary artists (Care Bears On Fire, Tiny Masters of Today), plenty of twee funk (including a couple tracks from the recently released Home Schooled compilation), some rap (Australia's Wilcannia Mob, who appear on M.I.A.'s last CD) and a few artists that appeared on previous volumes -- but not Jimmy Osmond, thank God. You'll also find some 60s covers (Cowsills, American Breed and Love), an obligatory Christmas song for the holidays and something from Bjork's real debut, released when she was 12.
Thanks to Thomas Mohr for introducing me to that Justice track, though now I hear it everywhere. I even danced to it at a wedding a few months ago. Also have to give props to CinnamonK for contributing several songs. He's posted mixes here in the past, and now operates an excellent blog called Bubblegum Soup
A quiz? Why yes. Same as before. Be the first to correctly identify the kids on the cover (they're all on the mix), and a copy is yours. And last but not least -- season's greetings to all my fellow Art of the Mixers!

The one in the upper left is Bj÷rk at age 12. I think the other 3 are pretty obvious.
Rock on kids! and Merry Christmas Moe!

My almost-nine-year-old recently discovered Care Bears On Fire. I fear.

Good lord, I'd love to hear this... Care Bears on Fire and Norma Tracy & the Cinderella Kids look especially divine. Didn't realize the members of Justice were children.

This may inspire some to youthanasia, not me I assure you as I'm ignorant of most of the tracks. I feel no need to enter the quiz since I finally came up with a Moe-proof quiz on a recent mix and that satisfies me. Yuletide greetings to you, expect some Leamington Spa mixes in the new year.

This might be the best installment yet! I'm gonna guess Johnny Whitaker, Little Stevie Wonder, Katie Sweet and a young man from Eight Minutes.

I love this series, love to hear it! "We don't dig no busing"? I didn't know there were any songs about integrating schools. I'm going with Katie Sweet, Lil' Stevie, Michael Vance, and Norma Tracy going clockwise from top left.

Wow, I don't know where you keep finding these tracks and how you keep churning out all these themed mixes, but damn, keep 'em coming!

Well you got one right, blasikin! No correct answers yet, so keep trying! Yes, the five Greer brothers (ages 9 through 14) weren't too thrilled with busing (and Richard Nixon), and expressed it on this single, released in 1973.

Hey, thanks for the link to the fantastic bubblegum blog Moe. Although you shouldn't tell everyone all your secrets. I have aone legged Norweigan Elf compile all my mixes, he then sells them to me for tuppence each, but I'm in no rush to tell others on here about it. It can just be our secret.
The mix is fab of course, the kids rock series being the second best series on the site ( after pet soundalikes ), yr just too good. Don't know about the pics but I'm guessing the kid on the bottom right is Arnold from Diffrent Strokes...

Vive l'enfants. Haven't got a clue re the quiz or the contents of the mix to that matter but am betting my last euro it be a top melange.

Utterly brilliant amigo and I only know a small percentage of it. Put one aside for me, I'll be in touch in the new year.

Looks like a fine addition to this mildly disturbing, yet always entertaining series. ;-) Season's greetings to you, as well, my friend, and all the best to you & yours in '08.

No Jimmy Osmond! No Jimmy Osmond...well, it looks pretty good anyway. And, uhm, taking a stab clockwise from the top left: Johnny Whitaker, Little Stevie, Sugar Chile Robinson and Dolly Parton.

the series that refuses to grow up, you mean. and why should it. this looks like a great set that I, too, would love to hear. especially the do-re-mi children's chorus & janaki & brahmanandan, to name just a couple here that pique my interest. Happy Holidays, Moe!

I thought there was a Moe mix that had slipped by me. Yeah...kids singing...I'll take your word for it. Still, Little Stevie Wonder is the rockinest that he ever was.

it's as good as we'd all hoped it would be. wonderful! favorites are 3 Stars, Little Stevie Wonder, Justice, The Wilcannia Mob, Michael Vance, Sesame Street Kids in Spanish, Children of N.Y.P.S. 63 and Janaki & Brahmanandan. but the one we all liked most of all was "Hairspray" by Stanley Livington. that song's pretty incredible. thanks a lot, Moe!
