Comment:

I've posted 20 mixes over the years... but it suddenly occurs to me that there isn't a single track on any of them from the last 30 years! So it may come as a surprise to some that I do infact own and listen to a lot of "modern" music! However, it does seem that I favour modern bands with quite a retro flavour and I only realised quite recently how many of my favourite songs from the last 15 years or so share a common theme... a distinct Brian Wilson influence or a general Beach Boys 'vibe'. And so I set about putting this CD together!!! Some of the artists included (such as The Wondermints or The High Llamas) have clearly made a concerted effort to capture that sound (whether in terms of harmonies, arrangements or production) while others are less obvious but still have something that reminds me of The Beach Boys in some way or other! I've never been comfortable putting random songs together on compilations so I'm glad to have found an "excuse" to put so many of my favourite 'recent' tracks on one CD!

Well, I would expect YOU to appreciate such great songs!!! I don't seem to have spent much time over the last year thinking about compiling mixes but I aim to "Slip On Through" once a month or so in 2008!

Ah yes, calls to my mind the mighty Moe and his Pet Soundalikes series. This stands on its own though. Great selections.

Since "Pet Sounds" is in my all-time top five albums, I am naturally attracted to this type of mix. Very nice.
