No Pockets in a Shroud
Comment:
A musical excursion through the folk pathways of the British Isles with a quick swim across the channel for a couple from Normandy as well. It was inspired after re-reading John Banville's fine novel "Shroud," about an epic journey of an old literary giant and his young nemesis to Turin. This is a 100% digitized from vinyl (divinyl) mix. The zip file also contains full insert art.
Feedback:
hey there, welcome to the website. my other comment is gone now, but I only meant to make a funny reference to that awful Divinyls hit from the '80s. hope you didn't think I was being a filthy jerk. this mix looks great, now that it appears in all its glory. especially like The Waterboys and that picture too. Is it an Edward Hopper painting? ps. what Enya track?
A man after my own heart. I don't usually do 100% vinyl...but I've ripped more than a few tunes from 12" platters.
This looks lovely...& I like your cover art. I have a Horslips album., somewhere...

An auspicious debut offering. Thanks for sharing.
I thought the original comment was quite witty but since I screwed up the first attempt somehow and duplicated the submission, I went in and cleaned up the mess.
The art on the cover comes from a fellow named Duncan Hannah. I do like Hopper's work (and see the similarities), particularly "Summer Interiors" and "Night Shadows."

Welcome to the site.
Beautiful artwork and a wonderful mix. Thanks for the links - a warm welcome to the site..
A beaut!
Very nice. Particularly like 2,4,6,9,13,16.
This looks super! Love 1, 5, 6, 9 & 14 particularly, and the Hopperesque cover is fantastic.
Welcome to the site and don't be a stranger!
while the cover is worthy, i particularly like the title. the thompsons, the waterboys, and al stewart are highlights for me. add me to the welcoming committee.
Now that I've listened to the whole thing, I can confidently say that I also love 3, 4, 7, 8, 10, 11, 13, 15, and yes, even the Tull. Great mix!
I dig the Strwbs, Thompsons, Stewert and tull and am looking forward tp exploring the rest.
great stuff . . . and a real atmospheric cover . . .
and now that I'VE listened to the whole thing too, I can confirm my complete and absolute love for that Waterboys track, as well as picks by The Strawbs, Sourdeline, Al Stewart's "Bedsitter Images" and lots of lovely instrumental songs that I can't match up with your tracklist. looking forward to the follow-up to your AotM debut.
What a great debut mix and as the other guys already said welcome to the site, watch out it become3s addictive!
Very nice to see the Thompsons, as well as Al Stewart. Welcome home.
