Comment:
After cover tributes to the Beatles, Stones, Beach Boys and the Who, it only seemed logical that the next (giant) step should be the fabulous Monkees. This mix was originally compiled to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the band's TV premiere and record debut in 1966, so you can see I'm a bit behind in posting it. Better late than never! Here's a quiz for all you sweet young things: be the first to name the cuddly toy company that manufactured my Monkeemobile on the cover, and a copy will be sent to your P.O. Box. I'll even toss in a totally groovy Monkees patch!
Feedback:
love to hear what the world has done to the monkees.
Was it Ford? This is just amazing. I never knew there were so many artists covering Monkees songs. Nina Hagen covering I'm A Believer, that I'd like to hear.
Yo, Auntie Moe. I guess the cuddly toy must have been made by M(odel) P(roducts) C(orporation). And this sweet young thing definitely looks like ti could give me a PLeasant Valey Sunday. Anyway, I'm a believer, baby.
Damn, I hit that submit button way too fast again. It's "it", "Pl" and "ll", of course. ;)
Taj Mahal' version is great.
Corgis? great looking stuff anyway
Looks like 'P' got it right. This looks like a cool listen, Mo...& I'm hoping you give a link; it'd be very Cor[g]dial of you.
I didn't know HALF of these existed. Always liked Gedge's stab at Pleasant Valley... very cool Monkee Moe.
Wow, this looks awesome. Who'd a thunk it.
Peter's guess is a good one, as Corgi did produce a Monkeemobile. But unfortunately his answer is incorrect. Keep trying, daydream believers!
Is it the Japanese toy company ASC? Nice looking mix by the way, any chance of a link?
Too terrific for words (or any words I can muster). As usual, I'm clueless...
How 'bout AMT-ERTL, then?
Wow this is cool. Husky?
This looks like one rollickin' mix. Like Barry said, I wasn't even aware that half of these even existed...
Geez, this is too cool for words. Aside from the Wondermints, Run-DMC, and Dickies, I'm wholly unfamiliar with this. We'll need to talk trades (or downloads)...
Brilliant. Revell, perhaps?
I'm gonna go with ERTL also
there are so many beatles cover comps floating around, it's refreshing & quite clever to see a monkees cover disc pop up. this looks really, really cool, & i would really love a copy if you're up for a trade...
Run DMC? Seriously? Awesome. <3 Sara
Wow, Awesome! Floyd Cramer doing "Your Auntie Grizelda" Count me in for sure.
You are a man after my own heart! LOVELOVELOVE this mix! I'm going to guess Kenner...
"These are the bones of the elephant man. And THESE are the bones from the Invisible man. AND THIS is the transmission from the Monkeemobile." If it' s not the MPC or the AMT or the Imai (yellow, no less), then I'll have to go with ASC http://www.moviereplicars.net/list_movies.asp?search1=The%20Monkees
Oobi doo no one makes a mix like you.
Glad you finally posted this mix, Moe. I don't want to win a copy as I already have one ( smirks smugly ), so I'll give an answer that I'm 99.9% sure is incorrect. Matchbox?
Love almost all of this, specially 25 & 30
Love almost all of this, specially 25 & 30
We have our winner! Dead Man was correct, though there were plenty of good guesses.
This looks great. And fun. And a lot like great fun. And stuff.
Blimey ! Glad you posted this . . . . I seriously had no idea that such a beast could exist !
Sad, sad, sad. How could you even consider posting this without The Sex Pistols cover of "(I'm Not Your) Stepping Stone?"Seriously, though, (that was a "joke*, mmmmk?) superb mix and an awesome collection all around.
Great collection Moe. Hey didn't Neil Diamond cover I'm A Believer? (-:
ultra cool looking ,ion...looks wilder than a chargers game. who's driving this rig?

Huh. I had no idea that Taj Mahal track was a cover. This is truely Moe-licious ear candy. Fancy a trade?
Wow and wow! I would probably guess Monogram for the quiz. And we can never have enough Paul Williams on AotM!
These guys were a guilty pleasure for me in High School, when the original shows aired. While my friends were buying LPs by Dylan, the Kinks, the Stones, etc, I was also buying albums by these guys. And I still have the originals in good condition. I know and have many of these tracks, but given some of the more obscure ones (like the commercials), I too vote for a link. Good job. And a testament to the writing abilities of Boyce & Hart, Carole King and Mike Nesmith!
This one makes me positively giddy!
This is truly magnificent. Kong Live Moe!!!
(oops I mean Long Live Moe)

Got no idea about the car...but I'll guess Mattel.
Actually, Mr. Mirage, I was wondering where the Pistols were, that is my favorite Monkees tune and favorite cover. And Kong Live Moe, too!
