Comment:

The other night I popped in a VHS tape of David Cronenberg's disturbing film Videodrome, starring James Woods as the obsessed TV producer. That caused me to delve into the soft underbelly of the soundtrack section in my collection of vinyl. This mix is the result. It's not meant as an alternative soundtrack to Videodrome, but who knows where things go once you blend mind, body and media.

I'll send out a copy of this mix (with artwork) to the first AOTMer who identifies the three movies above where blanks were left next to the song titles.

I must admit, I'm not necessarily familiar with everything here, but what I have heard, I like a great deal!

Most familiar to me are Stand By Me and Ain't Too Proud To Beg. And I think that I Burn For You is one of the most beautiful and overlooked items in the entire Police canon!

I do have Tim Burton's Batman on DVD, so I might have to listen a little harder for The Arms Of Orion!

I'm a big fan of director William Friedkin, and I admire To Live And Die In L.A. a great deal. I also think that Wang Chung's score was really good, particularly the opening title song.

I also thought it was really cool that you opened up with music from David Cronenberg's Videodrome I'm a fan of Cronenberg's films as well, and I love Howard Shore's musical scores for his films. So kudos! :-)

Excellent! I love mixes and I love quizzes, so this is my kind of thing. Although to be honest I haven't (didn't have) a clue without googling, so I'll leave the former to someone who actually knows.
But I'm downloading now, so I'll still get to give this a listen! The 7-11 bit looks fine.

Some great songs here, others make me cringe (Maniac). Only know the origin of I Burn For You, so I too shall defer....

well, pretty sure the Jobim track is from BLACK ORPHEUS, and I'll guess the Jean Moreau track is from QUERELLE. don't know about the Police song, but I'll guess the Kathleen Turner vehicle, JULIA AND JULIA, though I actually hope to god you don't have that soundtrack in your collection. love 2, 11 and 17 in a special way; can't wait to hear the whole thing.

Close but no cigar ... yet, tornadoZ. Try again on The Police song. The Jean Moreau track has lyrics by Oscar Wilde and does come from the wonderful Fassbinder film. As an aside, I checked eBay and the jacket art (Warhol)on the LP is fetching upwards of $200.

Hey did somebody say my name? It's the first time I've been mentioned in 11 years!

The quiz is beyond me. I like the cinema but it's hard to get Kathryn to go and see anything that isn't a teen flick or connected to John Waters :). Like to hear Jeanne Moreau sing though.

I don't have or purchase many soundtrack albums. A very long time ago, because I really dug the movie, I picked up the
soundtrack to the movie Tommy, and recently was thinking of grabbing the
Cars (Pixar) soundtrack because
my kids really enjoyed the film & for John Mayer's rendition of Route 66.

This looks nice (though I've no idea of the movie quiz); I know about half a dozen on the playlist; nice art, too.

Alright, I couldn't resist and had to come back.... The Police song is from BRIMSTONE AND TREACLE, which was one of Sting's first acting gigs.

Well, I guess that makes tornadoZ the winner with an assist to Mesh. If either (or both) of y'all want to pass along your mailing address, I'll send out a copy.

Hey, Divinyl! How are you? :-)

If you want to put a word in italics, let's say "victory," then what you do is put the letter "i" in between , then put the word, followed by "/i" in between . With that, you achieve victory!

You do the same thing when putting words in boldface, except instead of the letter "i" you use the letter "b" in order to achieve victory!

And in order to make a space between paragraphs, you put the letters "br" in between . If you want to make two spaces (like I've been doing in this message), you simply do it twice!

I hope I've adequately explained it. It's kind of tricky to explain in an e-mail message without accidentally doing it instead of explaining it!

Wow! I'm bummed the download has expired. The Bird, Jobim and the Ry Cooder are top notch. Well, I'll forgive the Maniac and Fame just because you have Freddy Fender.

Greetings, Divinyl! Stumbled across this superb collection this morning and gasped at your inclusion of a track from "Starstuck". I've been searching and searching for a track from that record called "Gimme Love"...If there's anyway whatsoever that it's convenient, might we perhaps arrange a trade?...Even beyond that, this is a fantastic assortment...Thanks so much...
