Try A Different Tomorrow
Comment:
This mix has been simmering for more than a month, following the death at age 56 of Dan Fogelberg. Some lumped Fogelberg into the "soft rock" category and dismissed his work. While not one of my favorites, I did enjoy some of his songs and found his later work with its strong environmental tones appealing. This, however, is not necessarily a tribute to Fogelberg. The mix leads off with one of his songs and then meanders through the thematic idea of a different tomorrow, a concept that was close to the songwriter's heart.
The two Felix Cavaliere tracks were segued together on his solo album, and I have left them in that sequence here. The mix closes on Graham Nash's "Southbound Train" going home, and I like to think of Fogelberg as a passenger on that train.

Feedback:
you know, I didn't even know Dan Fogelberg had died. that's sad. I loved hearing "Leader of the Band" on the radio when I first started listening in early 1982. looking forward to this mix.
My father gave me 300 records that we found that used to belong to his brother David. I went through all of them deciding which ones to keep and which ones to sell. I was very close to getting rid of the 4 Dan Fogelberg records in this collection. Since his death, I have heard his music in other contexts and only hear good things despite the soft-rock thing. Your mix looks very nice.
oh, and I kept them. I meant to say that
i am a fan of fogelberg, and Jessie colin young, and rory block, and traci chapman, and taj mahal, and of course, joni, bob, emmylou, and stevie, and oh, you get the idea.
Taj Mahal! Plus lots of other goodies! Woooooo!
Lot of greats hears
I just keep thinking of the scene in "BASEketball" where Ernest Borgnine raves about "You kids with your loud music and your Dan Fogelberg, your Zima, hula hoops, and Pac-Man video games." I'll always have a soft spot for Fogelberg. Lots of other favs on here too.
Is Ernest Borgnine STILL alive? Well I never. Great Wonder & Love tracks, and a wonderful double helping of Felix Cavaliere. I think I'll be helping myself to track 3 for a future me mix if that's okay?
Love the Love...and one of my favorite Dylan tracks too.
Too cool for school. Love the production on all fronts.
Great tribute. I love Danny boy. The very thought of Leader of the Band sends shivers down my spine, and I'll always have a soft spot for the Kentucky Derby theme song "Run For The Roses", since Louisville is my hometown. Haven't heard much beyond his greatest hits, though I've been meaning to explore...
Oh, and I love that Stevie Wonder tune.
