Tell Me Lies But Hold Me Tight
Comment:
Talk about your only in Hollywood stories. Yes, it's sappy but in a good way. "A Star Is Born" has been made three times since the 1937 original that had Janet Gaynor as the aspiring actress on her way to Hollywood to become a star. She meets an actor, Norman Maine, played by Fredric March and they marry but soon after his career develops difficulties while hers flourishes. Some cinematic theorists believe that the marriage of Barbara Stanwyck and Frank Fay was the film's real-life inspiration."A Star Is Born" has been remade twice, in 1954 with Judy Garland and James Mason, and in 1976 with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson. The financial and critical failure Glitter heavily borrowed plot elements from this film.
The earlier films show the young woman as an actress, whereas Streisand takes the role of a pop singer. Of course, each time the leading man dies, leaving the lady with her career and her memories, "Ageless and Evergreen" as Streisand sings in closing.
After seeing Number 3 once again on late-night TV, I went to the racks and created this thematic ode to the duality of ambition and love and, thus, A Mix Is Born.
Quiz: To win a copy of this mix, name the male actor originally selected for the Kristofferson role who turned it down when his manager objected to him not receiving top billing.
Quiz #2: To win a copy of this mix, what name of a prominent brand of cookie is used in the film and how?
Please answer only one quiz so we may have two different winners.

Feedback:
I really love these quizzes attached to the mixes. The first part is Elvis Presley. That darn Col. Parker wanted him to have top billing. geeze. I don't know the cookie yet. I may have to get the movie out of the old VHS boxes and watch it again. Then again, maybe I won't.
I've always loved that Glenn Frey song.

the cookie was oreo. streisand had to black backup singers with her.
Both quizzes have been answered correctly. Nice work! Email me the addresses to send your discs.
Good thing I didn't guess, I would have said Burt Reynolds, but now I remember the Col. Parker anecdote. I am not big on Barbra, but these songs are okay. Some other guilty pleasures as well, I am probably most negative here to Glen Frey.
