Theme - Break Up

Upheaval
Comment:
On a recent trip to DC, I stopped in at one of my favorite jazz clubs in the country, Blues Alley. The thrill of live improvisational music cannot be matched. Nevertheless, I dug into the racks and pulled out some live jazz for this mix. Some notes on the players:
1-Hal Galper Trio with Rufus Reid and Victor Lewis
2-Pieces of a Dream featuring Curtis Harmon, James Lloyd and Cedric Napoleon
3-Grover Washington with Richard Lee Stencker, Darryl Washington, Dexter Wonzel, Leonard Gibbs and Cedric Napoleon
4-Anger/Higbie with Mike Marshall, Todd Phillips and Andy Narell
5-Jarrett solo
7-Art Farmer with John S. Williams, Michael Nolfe and Ray McCurdy
8-Bill Evans with Marc Johnson and Joe LaBarbera
9-Dexter Gordon with David Eubanks, Eddie Gladden, Kirk Lightsey and Woody Shaw
10-Weather Report featuring Joe Zawinul, Omar Hakim, Wayne Shorter, Jose Rossi and Victor Bailey
11-Corea & Burton duo
Quiz:Win a copy of this mix with full artwork. Name the jazz artist that hired Hal Galper, providing him with his big break as a touring sideman.

Feedback:
I dig Dexter Gordon, big time
very cool
Herb Pomeroy.
njr is a winner of the quiz. Galper got his start with Pomeroy's band, though he credits Chet Baker with giving him his big break. Either answer would suffice.
Poor fish.
I had messed up the link to Upheaval. It has been corrected should anyone wish to download the mix.
nice artwork. today was stressful, and this was the perfect thing to have playing to keep me cool. loved the song w/ steel drums(?) that was playing at the 23 minute mark (was it "The Lights In the Sky Are Stars?"). also dug the Nancy Wilson song and the beautiful closer. one of my colleagues at work really liked the Weather Report song. thanks for sharing this.
This is great.
tornadoZ: That was Andy Narell on steel drums on the track you mention. He has several albums of his own.
Lovely. I'm especially fond of 7-9.
Thanks for the link, tried to DL a couple of days ago. I look forward to listening.
Yeah, lots of good stuff here.
Nice one, D/V.
This looks terrific, the Grover and Dexter stand out.
Very nice, the Bill Evans is the high point for me.
