Theme - Break Up

Behind The Curtain ... for tornadoZ
Comment:
The idea for this mix came from one of the comments on my last posting - Upheaval . This mixer, tornadoZ, liked the song with the steel drums - The Lights in the Sky Are Stars - by the Darol Anger / Barbara Higbie Quintet, and mentioned that.Though my knowledge of latin music is admittedly weak (with the exception of Jobim, the Gilberto clan, and a few others), I have been delving into some of tornadoZ's mixes in an attempt to play catch up. They have been a wonderful source for me to soak up the flavors of the latin artists.
Secondly, I wanted to show my appreciation for his comments as I was coming from Behind the Curtain into the aotm mix community after spending some time watching from a silent (but appreciative) distance.
The steel drum player on the aforementioned song is Andy Narell. So for this mix, I have included a piece by Narell as a band leader along with another song which has the steel drum as a major component - "Sunshine" by Robert Greenidge & Michael Utley. Also, "Slow Burn" features a very nice vibraphone (close relative to steel drums) solo by Dave Samuels. By the way, the Narell song is actually titled simply "Oz."
There you have it. From the collection of 100% vinyl to tornadoZ and y'all.

Feedback:
This looks great,Dean...d/l-ing now.
This is just a guess, but is the answer former sideman, turned full-blown artist, Carlton?

A good guess, Gene, but not the right answer.
Love Weather Report, Earl Klugh and of course "Z"
looks like i have alot to dig into here - however, the mixer, its intended purpose & the obvious care put into it leave no doubts about the outcome
Steve Gadd, maybe?
Steve Gadd it is and we have a winner.
thanks, Divinyl. that's real nice. pretty sure all of these will be new to me, so looking forward to capturing it on a *real* computer at work tomorrow for listening. cheers.
really liked the Tim Weisberg Band... after which I blissfully lost my way in the tracklist. beautiful stuff.
