Cheesy Pop Singalong
Artist | Song | |
Prince & The Revolution | Lets Go Crazy
A-ha | Take On Me | |
Hunting High And Low is actually a really good album if you happen to like synth pop.
Len | Steal My Sunshine | |
I flash back to the summer of 1999 every time this comes on, if only because it was just inescapable.
Salt N Pepa | Shoop | |
Electric Six | Danger! High Voltage
Fire is a pretty awesome album actually. Also, The Darkness' "I Believe In A Thing Called Love" and Andrew WK's "Party Hard" just barely missed the cut due to limited space - the three are kind of associated in my mind as they were the most gloriously ridiculous things my local alternative station was playing at the time.
Beyonce | Crazy In Love | |
I could give or take more or less anything else by her, but there's just something about that damn horn section here.
Men Without Hats | Safety Dance
The Outfield | Your Love | |
The Human League | Don't You Want Me
Erasure | Always | |
Admittedly not one of the first things I'd have thought of, were it not for popular flash game Robot Unicorn Attack.
The Cardigans | Lovefool
I love The Cardigans in general, and they have better songs, but come on, this is the only one that's going to get most people singing along.
Men At Work | Down Under | |
Guns N Roses | Sweet Child O' Mine
Steppenwolf | Magic Carpet Ride
Fleetwood Mac | Don't Stop
Modern English | I Melt With You
I guess a recurring theme here is going to be my standing up for supposed 80's one hit wonders. This is a great song that happens to not be very representative of the more moody post-punk sound of the rest of the album.
Supertramp | Breakfast In America
I wanted to slip Supertramp in because I love this album.
Journey | Don't Stop Believin'
Because it was inevitable.
Cutting Crew | I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight
Limahl | Neverending Story
oh oh oh, oh oh oh, oh oh oh. |
Comment:
Someone asked me for a mix for a road trip that would induce lots of singing along, so this is what I put together. Despite the "cheesy" label, I think these are just all great pop songs (well, maybe "Crazy In Love" is an okay pop song with a great horn section).Feedback:
Thumbs up...all of these songs come up on shuffle during my daily commute. Nice touch with the Len, Men Without Hats and The Outfield.
Big fan of My Favourite Game by the Cardigans too.
